Quality pricing, usability
We opened this up yesterday. We gave this to our granddaughter for Christmas. She is 8. She needed help with the instructions. There is embroidery thread, eye for the bird. Holes punched into the design to show where pieces go. Everything you need. The scissors are worthless and do not need to be added in. They do not cut thread. Or embroidery thread. This is a nice kit. Organized. Nice size box to keep and use for other embroidery products as you move up in skills. Directions are easy to read and follow for an adult. Not enough details for an 8 year old. I would ourchàa this again as something fun to do, as a gift

4 and 1/2 stars for this great sewing kit!
My seven year old had been asking for a kids sewing kit for awhile, and I had been looking for one that he might like when I came across this one. He's huge into animals, so this was perfect. It comes with the materials to make five woodland animals - a fox, a chickadee, an owl, a rabbit, and a bear, as well as the tools to make them (minus the scissors). He was very impressed that it had pins and a pincushion in addition to all the rest of it, since that meant he had his own pincushion like his older sister. The majority of the set is very well made - nice felt, nice embroidery thread, nice materials for the animals in general. The box itself is also well made, and he's taken to sometimes carrying it around even when he's not going to make an animal right then. (He's made two of them so far.) The only complaint I have with it? The needles - our metal needle broke the first time we tried to use it, and most of the plastic needles bent and/or broke even with the holes punched into the felt. (They're not very big, and not really lined up to sew the animals the way the instructions tell you to.) That being said, if you have any quality needles at home, you'll be fine. We just ended up using one of the needles from my sewing kit that I have to make repairs and so forth. And even if you don't have needles, they're easily obtained at craft and/or sewing stores for cheap. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. My seven year old did need help sometimes, but he had no sewing experience before this kit and did better with the stitches when shown them. It was much easier to get the two animals we've made so far sewn once I got out a better needle, as like I said before, the holes don't necessarily line up. He's very please with this kit, and I'm happy to have found it. It's definitely a 4 1/2 star sewing kit - better quality needles would make it a definite 5 star kit. But even with the needles it has, I'd still recommend it.

Cute sewing kit for beginners
Very nicely organized sewing kit with blunt needles for a young child for sewing. A great bday gift for our 7 year old grand daughter. Highly recommended. Pins are sharp though so we removed those until our 7 year old is older.

Good quality materials but it won't look quite like the ...
I bought one for my 5 year old girl and my 9 year old boy wanted one of his own. Good quality materials but it won't look quite like the pictures on the box. The pre-made holes don't allow the stitching they show but if you just work with it the animals turn out fine. They're cute, relatively easy to make - with a little adult help -, and seem to hold up pretty well. It's been a fun project I can do with my daughter. My son wanted to do it all himself and that will be more of a learning experience, I'm not sure his first one will stay together: it's as much glue as stitching.

Cute and doable project for kids
I bought this for our granddaughters, ages 11 and 7 who had no hand sewing experience. The little one had very little interest at first. The older one was thrilled. After showing them how to make the stitches, they made three animals in an afternoon. The needles are blunted and barely penetrated the pincushion but then, the straight pins wouldn’t penetrate it either. I’m not sure what’s inside the pincushion but a simple polyester stuffing would have been better. Otherwise, the punched holes lined up and the kit contained sufficient supplies to complete all of the animals. Very entertaining and they didn’t fuss with each other while making their animals.

And the holes are pre-punched (and easily line up)
I bought this kit for my daughter (who is 6 years old) for Christmas. She has already finished the teddy bear and is making the fox now. It does take her some time to finish the projects, but she is learning a lot about sewing and already wants to get another kit when this is done. We don't need the stuffed animals but she loves the process of doing it and how successful she can be. The material used is felt -- easier to work with than fabric. And the holes are pre-punched (and easily line up). There are small pieces that need to be pinned and then sewed on -- but there are even holes for those to make the process more successful. When I am sewing badges and patches on her scouting vest, she sits down next to me and sews on her animals. The weakest point of the entire kit is the scissors -- they are not sharp enough to cut the embroidery floss in the kit so I let her use my sewing scissors. But it is still a 5-star kit and I'll definitely buy more. The cardboard box has not fallen apart yet so we use it to store the unopened projects (each animal+instructions is in a different plastic bag) and the cotton. The embroidery thread, tools, and currently in process project are in a separate bag I gave her as a sewing bag (A Ju-Ju-Be Be Ready bag)

Nice little kit. Had to provide kiddo with real needle. Other than that all the supplies were there and she was able to follow instructions independently with success
