I'm not absolutely sure what metal the egg beater is made of. When I received it, I couldn't even turn the handle. It was such a piece of junk, I immediately returned it. However, I'm pretty sure it's chrome plated and not stainless steel.

I can’t imagine that you’re doing anything wrong. If you are turning the crank it should turn. Might just be defective
