Salter Touchless Tare Digital Kitchen Scale (Blue)

The touchless element is ANNOYING. I reset the scale all the time without meaning to do so. I finally learned how to angle the scale so that I don't inadvertently reset the scale in the middle of doing something... or at least not as frequently. It is also IMPOSSIBLE to clean as the glass sits so close to the base that stuff gets in there, but good luck getting it out.

I purchased this item NEW as it was recommended by my family and friends. In particular, I chose this version because batteries were included and the measuring capabilities were ultra-fine. Unfortunately, when I received the item, it appeared to be used, and no batteries were included. This has never happened to me on Amazon before, and it's quite unacceptable!!!

Being an analytical chemist for over 30 years, I have spent more time in front of a balance (scale) than most people have been alive. I was very excited about getting this scale, as I do a lot of baking and needed an easy to clean and reliable balance. Salter has a good reputation for making scales and I thought this would be a great scale. Unfortunately, I did not see the previous review on this product prior to purchasing it.This would be a great scale if you could use it for weighing. You can't. When adding an ingredient to the scale bit by bit, the weight reads zero while you add the ingredient, so you have no idea how much you are adding. Then, it shows a weight (which is typically quite a bit more than you intended to add) immediately prior to resetting (taring). Then the weight returns to zero after the reset. This behavior happens whether you are weighing 2 grams or 2 pounds.So, bottom line is that you cannot use this scale to weigh, which is a pretty serious flaw. It is useless. Don't waste your money on this one.

This scale was working well for us, as it had the capacity to hold all the ingredients we use to make bread along with the heavy glass bowl, and could give us accurate measures down to a gram. Unfortunately when we went to make apple butter and simply weigh a bunch of apples, it's decided that it will randomly reset the tare when we're not near it and when there's no shadowing or other change in the illumination on the sensor. That unfortunately makes it useless, since we can't get a coherent measurement.

The touchless tare sensor is exactly in the wrong position. Whenever you are in the process of adding additional ingredients, in inevitably, your hand passes over the sensor and the scale immediately tares. I recently replaced this scale with a Taylor 3919 for half the price. I would not recommend this product.

This scale is the worst we have ever owned. It registers the weight too quickly when you are trying to weigh something in increments, such as flour where we would like to add more scoops to get the total weight. It registers, then goes back to zero. Useless and frustrating.

Product stuck together with two-sided adhesive tape which had come apart by the time we got it and was unusable , Totally unacceptable quality, Salter identified as the brand, but not identified as such on the box=very misleading!
