Petstages Stuffing-Free Big Squeak Gator Plush Dog Toy, Medium

This is an update of an earlier review I wrote complaining that this product hadn't lasted long enough. After my dog kept searching for the previous gator he had demolished, I finally broke down and ordered him a new one. The first gator must have been defective. This one has lasted for months and is still intact. (Even after the first gator "died", it was a treat not to have to go all over the house picking up its stuffing.) Gizmo has so much fun playing with his gator, and I laugh so hard watching his antics, that the toy is worth every cent. I've also bought one as a gift for a friend's dog, who seems to enjoy it almost as much as Gizzie. In fact, he (a Yellow Lab) has a howling good time "singing" along with the gator's two-toned squeaks. Though the toy is geared to a fairly large-mouthed dog, mine is only a medium-sized Shihtzu/Pomeranian mix. Nevertheless, both he and my friend's 80# Lab manage the gator well. A quiet toy, this is NOT; you'll have to put it away when you're trying to sleep. BUT if you enjoy seeing your dog have a really good time, this the toy to get him/her!

The dog we purchased this for loves to chew, but knows what he can’t chew on. This is lightweight yet very sturdy, has a good squeaker he can’t dislodge, yet squeaks easily when he plays with it. The noise is soft so we don’t feel like throwing it out the door. It goes everywhere with our dog and he sleeps with it every night and nap time. And he hasn’t chewed it apart because of the quality! We are buying more.

Nice toy with minimal appendages - meaning that body parts are not quickly chewed off. I made the mistake of getting this one along with one for the Large dog. This monkey is intended to be a small dog toy and as soon as I felt it, I knew my English Shepherd of 8 months would probably have it torn up within a day or two.I really like the design - no ropes or braids or legs, no small pieces for the eyes, etc. The monkey does have a small curly-Q tail but so far it's stayed attached to the monkey. It's durability has surprised me so far.For years I have had a Jack Russell terrier, which I think might be considered a small/medium dog (at least mine was). This toy would have lasted him weeks or even months, he didn't set out to eat his toys. Now I have an English Shepherd and I forget that she's probably considered a large dog. She rarely chews up anything EXCEPT her toys, but when she gets a new toy, she spends hours "getting to know it" and she's got pretty sharp teeth.The fabric on this toy is durable, not easily torn. Because there is no stuffing the squeaker is easy for the dog to squeak - and if your dog hasn't had squeaky toys before, that might freak them out just a little, it did my dog, she started off apprehensive of the toy but quickly grew to enjoy it.Because this toy is hollow and not dense, my dog doesn't chew on it the same way as she did her rope-style toy, and therefore this toy has lasted longer than the KONG Pudge Braidz Pig Dog Toy, Medium/Large toy (which lasted about 10 minutes). Someone else here posted some good pictures of their larger sized dog with this toy, and that dog looks to be about the same size as mine. That person stated the toy didn't last long and showed pictures of how it looked after being dismantled. I expect that to happen to this one since that dog's size is similar to mine, although it's lasted so far more than a day. I guess it partially depends on not just the toy but the dog, too. Because there's no density to this toy, my dog doesn't seem to want to chew it like she does a bone, instead she tosses and wrestles it, occasionally making it squeak, then lies down next to it and takes a nap.All in all, this is so far, my favorite dog toy brand. It's less dangerous than the Kong toys or the Nylabone toys, and especially less dangerous than the rope style toys. I purchased several other Petstages toys and so far, they have lasted longer than any other brand, including those named. I just should have been more attentive to the recommended dog size, as this toy is clearly not ideal for large dogs. The Petstages Gator toy is better for a large dog. I have also purchased that one and find it much more suitable.

Recently received this item and it already doesn't squeak. My 8 pound dog loved it and is not hard on toys so I was shocked it stopped squeaking. Poor quality.

Dog loves it

I bought this for my small dog and this is too thick for him. I thought it’d be flat since there is no stuffing. It’s hard and too big for his little mouth. Will shop for a new toy. He was so excited to receive it, but sad that he couldn’t play with it.

I am not sure what you all do to these toys, but ever since I bought the monkey, she only wants these now. Every night is a fun play time!

My dog first had this as puppy and carried it around everywhere. It finally wore out and i had to throw it away.Now my dog is twelve years old and I was delighted to find this for sale. My dog loves it just as he used to. Carries it about everywhere and sits licking it with pure joy.I've brought two so there's one spare.

The best toy I have purchased. We have an 11 month old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie). She's just been spay; Vet told us she'd never been in heat. It's 5 days & she's to be kept quiet. All her toys have been put up. She's looking for them, especiallly this toy, her favorite. She likes it best for fetch. She chews on it a lot. It's holding up true to its claim. No stuffing is great and she must have got a tooth into it as it is startng to collapse on one end, still squeaks on both ends. She's had it for about 6 months; went thru teething, which she is still in. The vet took out a baby tooth that was causing her second tooth to be pushed over. Great toy, and will buy again.
