Brain Games for Dogs: Fun Ways to Build a Strong Bond with Your Dog and Provide It with Vital Mental Stimulation

Wonderful Book
I've read a lot of dog training books, but this is the best one I've seen. It has a great variety of games, and also a lot of mentally and physically challenging exercises that are really fun for both you and your dog. I was impressed at how clearly everything was explained so that it's easier to teach your dog. There were some pretty easy tricks, and some advanced ones. There is something for every type of dog in this! The author even has tricks pertaining to the type of dog you have - whether it be a hound, herding dog, or whatever other group.I have trained my dog over 10 tricks, and we literally ran out of tricks, because I didn't know what else I could teach him. Other books have the typical tricks that my dog knows, but this book has been the only one that has plenty of original and fun tricks for him to learn, on top of what he's already been trained. I highly recommend this!

Lots of good tips for learning new skills.
A great buy, we’ve learnt a whole lot of new skills, my huskies are pretty good at refusing to learn tricks that make no sense, the skills in this book make sense to them and they respond to each new challenge with gusto.

Good Info for Beginners
I won't lie, the content is not quite what I expected. It's less "brain games for dogs" and more "basic training and enrichment." There are definitely some good tips for beginners and some decent tutorials for training good manners, but nothing I couldn't find in an easier to follow video format. I expected more ideas for complex enrichment rather than how to teach a dog fetch. I guess I'll have to get creative on my own. This can definitely be a good book to get for kids with dogs to teach them how to really interact beyond playing chase around the yard, or perhaps if you've never had a dog in your life, but for me it was rather disappointing.Four stars because it's good information and great formatting, minus one because I expected more complexity.

A must have
I think this book is really cool. The brain games are simple and easily done with stuff normally found in the home and the directions are very easily understood, written step by step. These are all games the can be done by an adult or juvenile child with their furry friend. The games are well thought out and I think ANY dog owner should read it.

Basic tricks, not the "brain" games I was looking for
I have prior experience training dogs, not professionally, but as well-trained pets. I was looking for what was promised for some fun work with a very bright Shepherd puppy. This book does not have much in the way of "brain games," it's really just a primer on tricks and interactive basic games crossed with a very busy DK type format. For a book with this given premise to actually have a page on teaching "shake" is absurd. If billed as creative thinking activities, I want that.If you are a beginner, never really worked with a thinking dog or want to expand on your relationship and don't know where to start, than this might work, though I don't love the busy format. This might be good for an older child learning to train, the pictures are reasonably good. If you are more experienced and looking for something creative, look elsewhere. I was disappointed by this book and am going to return it.

Great for Kids!
I bought this last year for my nine year old son to get some good ideas on fun things to do with our dog. The illustrations are very clear and step-by-step so you can visualize each trick or game before you start. For me, I didn't care if my son did it "wrong," -- the book made it look fun enough that I was happy he was trying. My dog didn't care either since she was happy to get her treats! I like the positive reinforcement approach -- especially how the author was able to illustrate the timing of the clicker. Hard to illustrate a sound visually!I'd also recommend Playtime for Your Dog by Christina Sondermann.

Lots of Pix and Dark Ink. An Easy Read.
This book is a delight to read and look through. It draws you in with quality, glossy, heavyweight pages that have multiple colored pictures (photos) on every page along with the explanation. The print is black on white, no ink-saver grey on ecru recycled matte pages. Worthy of a cocktail table book.

Not quite what I expected.
This is more of a puppy training book than a brain game book. I expected some new or unusual tricks to help my dog fight boredom during bad weather but honestly didn't see anything particularly earth shattering. It would be ok for somebody getting a puppy that needs a few tidbits.

Good ideas
I found the book very useful with just not games but good general information

Dog Training is fun!
It has many games to stimulate the dog's brain and build relationships with their owner. Several of our dog club members have now bought the book and one has been added to our Library at our Dog Club.

Its ok
Its not that it's bad but I wouldn't really recommend it. I think you can find all of this on YouTube and it explained by example.
