It is very easy to use and quite adjustable. You can just add or remove water.it doesn't look quite firm as shown in the picture or I am not doing it right filling it up.Filling up was boring but not that difficult.No spillage so far.

I don't plan to travel with dumbbells but I bought these because I wanted 20 pound weights that didn't cost an arm and leg to get shipped to Hawaii where I live. I haven't been able to get these filled to their full capacity because when nearly filled it seems almost impossible to close the tight fitting plug in time to keep the last 1/2 pound of water in the weight pockets. That said I work out with two nearly full 4-pocket weights weighing almost 20 pounds so they do the job. I'd probably recommend them to someone wanting them for travel dumbbells but I'd rather have solid weights.

First the bad news -- You'll never get five pounds of water into each of these rings, for a total of 20 pounds per dumbbell as advertised.But some good news -- Even though 4.1 to 4.3 pounds of water is probably the best you can accomplish, there's enough space on the bars to allow three on each side of the grip, for a total of 25 pounds per dumbbell. You just have to buy an additional set of the smaller size. I already had a smaller set of the blue ones, and I've added those to these bars, and they fit just fine, for a total of just over 25 pounds per dumbbell.And a hint -- these things are basically tiny vinyl waterbeds. To keep them pliable and keep the water inside from going "bad" (this only matters to those of us who use them at home and don't change the water -- for travel, you just need to keep changing the water often), add an ounce or so of waterbed conditioner that contains anti-microbials and plasticizers to each ring when you fill it with water.

For the traveler who wants to stay in shape but avoid gyms. It is great product to carry when travelling and when you do not have access to fitness center. It is lightweight and easy to pack and carry.

these plates come in a set of 8. effortless to refill water, tho may require some time. i let my teeth flosser do the water filling like a dumpling. might consider it a trip essentials to bring along with you!

I bought these because of my arthritis and osteoporosis. My grip is not as secure as it used to be and I've been afraid that my usual 5 lb. handweights might drop on my foot. These are soft and yet still 5 lbs when full. I weighed it. I snipped the middle circles to make them easier to hold by hand. I do not need the bar that connects them. I also bought a pair for my father to hold and lift in the hospital.

These are perfect for traveling. They are easy to pack away, fill and deflate. There is no leakage whatsoever upon usage. I found the dumbbells to be pretty easy to fill with water and had no issues getting them ready. If you were to empty them out right before packing them away in your luggage you should have an exterior bag to place over them as they may retain residual moisture. By the time I got home and unpacked they were dry and ready to store away. Free weights are one of my favorite tools to use for exercise, so nice that I don't have to do without it away from home.

These were awesome. I didn’t know what to expect considering some of the reviews. They are not going to fill 100%, but fill enough and the size of the opening is adequate. We used these while staying at a bed and breakfast and these helped us to keep us on track with our workouts. We would purchase again.
