Hayward SPX0710XBA Key Cover and Handle Assembly Replacement for Hayward Multiport and Sand Filter

Don't overtighten.

We recently dropped our pool service and began doing everything ourselves. The equipment was original to the house (20+ years old) and the multi-valve was pretty hard to turn. I replaced it in about 20 minutes (first time I'd done that--thanks YouTube!) and now it's butter smooth. And since this is an original Hayward part, the quality is there, too.If you're contemplating such a repair, don't forget to order the appropriate cover O-ring and spider gasket as well, and used some silicon grease to lube them both. Some on-line comments said to glue the spider gasket down with super glue, but I used a tiny bit of silicon sealant and it's been working like a champ.

Moves very easily with no hangups!

This was a great purchase for us!! Our pool filter was constantly leaking. When backwashing the filter and then switching back to filtering the water, we would continue to lose water through the backwashing hose. This product definitely fixed our issue. Note - you could replace only the spring associated with this key cover and would very likely get the same result. However, I've replaced the spring once before. Though it can be done, it isn't easy at all. We're so glad we purchased this, it was worth the money.

This is an exact replacement for the switching valve on my Hayward de 4800 Micro Clear filter. But as all of you know with this system, everything is now obsolete. I suggest ordering whatever you can think of for backup parts now, before they are all gone, forever. One other thing, this fits in the housing exactly 180 degrees out from the original piece. I have to mark it as such, so I don't forget it's positioning for setup when spring time rolls around.

I have been spoiled by one or two day deliveries and this took several days. After I got the part I was able to put it on in just a few minutes and it was exactly what I needed.

Very happy that I was able to only replace the cover rather than the entire valve assembly after 15+ years the original called it quits.Worked great this summer. I replaced the internal gasket and lubed it with Jacks lube. Never had a pool valve work so smooth. Lubed every o-ring and gasket with the stuff actually. Not one drip from anything. That never happened with Vasoline.
