Q: is this true 10,000 lumens?

I don't have any scientific benchmark test to verify 10k lumens, but all I'd say is it is genuinely very bright! Much brighter than your average torch. Two modes: wide-angle, which bathes a vast area of light around you, and 'zoom' which easily reaches the end of our field 100m away and beyond.

Q: What are the plastic tubes for? Can u not use them and use bigger batteries?

The torch has a chamber that can accommodate wider cells than the 18mm diameter, 65.0mm length 18650 cells it ships with. So you need tubes to stop them moving around. My guess is the tubes are 4mm thickness and you might also use 26650 (26 x 65.0) cells instead for longer battery life and more weight.
