Well written on a controversial topic
Robin Baker has an excellent writing style and his choice of style for this book presents his and others ideas and concepts of sperm warfare well. If you want to understand yest another facet of human sexuality then it is a good read. It will raise topics that !ost people will find difficult such as rape and bisexuality but does not judge these issues.

Required Reading for All of Humanity
I’m honestly not even joking. This is such a profound and absolutely essential work of literature, for any and all humans interested in anything concerning reproduction. Do yourself a favour and buy it. You’ll never see male-female relations in the same way again. Not only this, but you’ll have a distinct advantage concerning your knowledge of human sexuality, over every single human who thinks they’re too good to read it

Fascinating.
This is a fascinating book. There's a lot of great science in there and many educated guesses and hypothesis that are fodder for thought. Would makea great book club choice for the very adventurous group discussions. Parts of the book(example stories) were surprisingly racy and unexpected. Basically sais that the body has it's own agenda to reproduce and that's separate from your own plans. Hormones bridge the differenece and cause spontaneous behaviors. The real interesting stuff is the science of how the body undermines your own plans to either conceive or not conceive--both for men and women. Also interesting is how the state of mind affects fertility. What a fascinating mystery. I was left with amazement at how easy it is to get pregnant when you're not planning and how difficult it can be when you are! Each child is so very miraculous--a result of so many bizarre variables that all come together in a moment.

This book speaks in volumes.
This book is quite a find. Even though that this book claims that the stories of all the characters and events that took place are fictional, I can't help but feel that some, (if not all) the stories in it are true at some point in time or another. A lot of these stories are not out of the world of impossibility. I'm sure that some of these stories are true, given that the events might have been different, but overall the same outcome. Robin Baker made this book in a world of hypothetical situations. But I have to admit, its quite close to the truth about human nature. In one chapter he mentions that if we trace our linage back about 8 or 9 generations, we would find that we are related to ether a bisexual or a rapist or both. And if these events didn't take place, we would not exist today. He's saying; that "WE ALL" are related to one of these two kinds of people in one way or another.... I know its a lot to take in. Robin Baker isn't saying that we should follow the same immoral steps like our ancestors did in order to reproduce, you have to realize that 8 or 9 generations ago it was a different world back then. Plagues and diseases were common then and it was important to reproduce cause most people then lived to the age of 30. It's strong probable fact. And it's quite a large and bold statement to say that we all share an ancestor who was a rapist, but this and much more will tell you, not so much as why, but how you got here.

Infidelity academically defined
The book is mind boggling. The book compels you to question what you believe determines human sexuality. For the faint of heart or sensitive ones, this book is not for the faint of heart. Covers controversial topics like cheating on your spouse behind his/her back, or if you're a women, being inseminated with a person you're cheating with while your partner is stuck raising a child that is not his! I recommend this read. I read almost half now, and I can't put the book down.

A little disappointing, but worthwhile
I had high hopes for this book after hearing so many of my friends rave about it. However, I was a little let down. First of all, there are no foot-notes or citations for any of the claims/statistics that Baker writes about. I understand that the book reads easier without them, but it takes a lot of the credibility away from the message. Also, the constant referral to previous/future "scenes" (37 small stories) throughout the book really made it difficult to follow.I read in a couple other reviews for this book that a lot of the "science" Baker writes about has been proved wrong. One of the reviewers actually posted a link to a scientific article which conducted some experiments contradictory to Baker's research, so if you feel inclined it's on this website somewhere.Anyway, the book did have a couple (valid) discoveries that were new to me, so all was not lost. Just wish Baker had done a better job of backing up his research!

Goes beyond conscious choices
Definitely makes my top 10 list for anyone in the mating game (basically everyone). Some very digestible science in this one. Evolutionary biology goes way beyond our “logical” thinking. Read up.

It will make others think you are a complete weirdo. If that is what you are, or you just like an interesting book with stories and science, pick this one

Wow! Absolutely Sublime Book
Now after completing the book, I’m lost for words on how much of it actually makes sense. It’s a fascinating look at the primal motivations behind a lot of human sexual behaviour. It’s helped me understand myself a bit better as well as a lot of my previous experiences. I also better understand my friends, family and the deeply rooted underlying motivations related to all forms of human sexual dynamics. These fictional Scenes are a fun read, sometimes funny and the explanations are very educative but fundamentally they explain a lot and this could legitimately alter your perspective on of your sexual behaviour perhaps for life. Not a negative thing in my estimation.Good book. Highly recommend.

Read every page.
If you ever want to know why we behave the way we do this book is for you. People in their 20's should each get a copy. Good grad gift. I first borrowed this book from someone who insisted I read it. It took me a month to open it as the title seemed a bit disturbing. Couldn't put it down. The copy I just bought is a gift for a friend.
