Excellent quality, nice set of inserts. Very tight fit. Required some patient fitting on my Marlin lever gun front ramp. Great quality overall. Superior sight picture for long range shooting.

Perfect fit

Very nice, well made item. No corners cut, no sloppy workmanship. I had it installed and working in a jiffy. It really did make an improvement over the bead front sight. I love the simi-clear plastic insert. It helped to line the inside of the opening with a sharpie. This made a very fine line circle to help center the target. I mounted it on an old Winchester model 67 with a Lyman 55 peep sight. It is a very good "period" style match.

The dovetail was really tight on mine… definitely no need for shims. The inserts other than the German post are meh. Shaver inserts are a better choice, particularly for use with a vernier rear sight. Good price.

My kids do precision shooting with scouts, and the limitations on what kind of rifle you can get are pretty strict. Bolt action only, no tube mag, etc. So I was relegated to the Savage Rascal, which comes with a decent enough adjustable rear sight and a dovetail mounted front post. That front post was the weak link, as it's not really suited to precision target shooting. Using only a brass punch and a hammer, I was able to replace that front post with this Lyman front sight, and the difference is night and day. The he sight comes with several options for creating various sight pictures, but I opted for the globe insert. My kids' shooting improved immediately because the human eye/brain is more easily able to align circles consistently than positioning the front post within the peep ring. Long story short, if you've got a Savage rascal for your junior shooter, this sight will make their shooting experience more fulfilling and make it easier to put those rounds right where they want them.

Having used these for many years I have not found any better at a reasonable price. The one I just purchased has been installed on an old Mossberg 22 rifle and works fine.

Combined with williams foolproof target peep rear sight, this is the perfect setup for silhouette matches. Front sight alone raised avg score by 5 points. Best feature: you can hand file the inserts for super fine front post, be careful.
