I love this book of poems. Beautifully written

Real-world topics and social commentary, worded beautifully. Views relatable subjects such as motherhood and marriage through a lens of raw, honest emotions - moving from joy to pain to passion to fear to everything in between seamlessly, often within just a few lines or stanzas. Gorgeous book that felt both personal and universal at the same time.

The media could not be loaded. This book is such an inspiration! I laughed and cried reading it. Kate Baer is truly a gift, and judging by this debut poetry collection, we can expect wonderful things for her in the future. I have read a lot of work from female poets, and I believe Baer is providing a new voice on a part of the human experience that has been vastly under-represented in the poetry world. She writes about the joy, drudgery, and anxiety that comes in being a wife, mother, and woman in general. Her poetry is accessible, yet philosophical and piercing. "What Kind of Woman" reads like a wise girlfriends' advice/confessions, as well as a mother's love letter to the next generation of girls. I truly can't recommend enough! I love it so much that I want to re-read it every week until I know all the poems by heart.

Found it difficult to understand

Raw and beautiful collection

In this outstanding poetry collection, Kate captures what it is to be a woman in a way that is authentic without being overwrought. I felt seen, but not exposed. Understood instead of caricatured. This book has earned a permanent spot on my nightstand next to Brian Doyle, and I don't know how to give higher praise than that. I'll return to her words again and again, and gift them to the women in my life, too.

Every poem is so beautifully written and captivating. I opened it the moment it arrived and read half of it sitting at my kitchen table with my kids eating dinner beside me. I couldn’t stop reading Kate’s brilliant and piercing words. She so eloquently puts into words thoughts and emotions I didn’t even know I felt. I’ve already bought 6 more for the important women in my life who deserve to be seen like Kate sees them in this book.

I've just now purchased this for a third time as part of an end-of-year gift for my kiddo's teachers. The two that have received it previously both said they adore it, so it's gonna be a yearly buy for me until kiddo finally gets a male teacher.

Kate’s words are like a comforting cup of tea on a rainy day, despite being in the storm you fill yourself with warmth in being seen with every word.

I came upon this book by chance and had no idea who Kate Baer was nor that it has been so recently published. A complete whim lead to an impulsive purchase. It is times like this that I wonder again at an unseen reality, if somehow this book found me.What a writer. Truly phenomenal. How deep her words. What clarity. What a reflection of my heart.
