With the coming of a new puppy, I wanted something that looked a little nicer than our current doggy igloos. I shopped around and the found the best price on Amazon and the quality seemed the same as the pet store houses. It put together quite easily. My boyfriend had it built in an hour or so. I wasn't sure if it was completely weather-proof so I varnished it. the color of the wood was already nice so I left it as is. The wood however seemed rather flimsy (pet store ones did too) and not all the pieces fit perfectly. within a day of putting it in its place, the dogs (2 adult Germans Sheps + puppy) had chewed the corners, and by the end of the week the puppy had most of the door frame off and part of the front panel as well. The pup rarely uses it, it was mostly our older dog that enjoyed it. The house is still up even with the pieces missing and still looks somewhat nice. Other than being a little flimsy the house is nice, but next time I might just try building one myself.

This dog house is exactly what we were looking for..My fiancee and I were trying to avoid a plastic igloo or dog house that would be an eye sore to our brand new back yard. And of course, we needed to get that without completely breaking the bank.The dog house was extremely easy to piece together, 8 bolts and 12 screws if I remember correctly. 2 roof slabs, 2 side walls, back, front, point of roof piece, and 2 floor pieces.Our German Shepherd really enjoys it... Well at least the taste of it, he took to chewing on the corners of the roof.Other reviews are correct in stating that this thing SMELLS out of the box, I suggest opening it in the garage or outside because the smell of stain is evident.Also, the floor pieces fit in without any screws, and there is some "give" in the middle of the dog house. I'm looking to take the advice of one of the reviewers and add a 2"x4" under to support the weight better.One of the plastic leg covers came damaged, I contacted Amazon and hopefully they will replace it... I will have to update this if they do.. Doesn't affect the house all to much.

I purchased this doghouse but no screws, nuts, or bolt to assemble the parts. Took me another hour to go to the local hardware store to get it to assemble the dog house. Contacted the vendor and no response. Bad quality control and poor customer service.

I ordered the Large Dog house for two six month old, 50 lb. German Shepherds. The house arrives in pieces that need to be screwed together. The side walls use bolts and the roof pieces use screws through pre-drilled holes. It went together in less than ten minutes including reading the instructions (pictorial representations in each step: think Ikea furniture), assembly and devising reinforcement for the floor. My construction experience is nil. We're talking barely knowing how to operate the cordless drill and praying not to end up a bloody mess.After reading a few other reviews and seeing it for myself. The floor construction wasn't well thought out. However I reinforced the floor with two by twos under the house. Easy-peasy.While opening the box, the house wreaks of wood stain. I thought the girls wouldn't want to go anywhere near it due to the smell. Wrong! They loved it. I just showed one girl that this was for her, and the other followed her sister into the house. They use it everyday and night.I will be getting another soon as the girls will only be getting bigger. I've seen reviews that state the houses run on the smaller size. The girls have plenty of room to go in together and stretch out.

This is the second one I've bought. First one took a good sized maple tree - it didn't survive but enough to save my new puppy's life. These are easy to put together. Overpriced...yeah a little but my puppy isn't complaining.

cheaply made,was made in china,walls very thin heating package tears easy,not recomended for that price you can make one.[...]

So far so good however with all of the other comments I am worried a little about the bottom falling apart.

Easy to put together - one roof panel had pre-drilled holes for the screws and the other did not, but I was able to work around that. Took about an hour to put together. Agree with the other reviews that the floor could be thin - they are two panels that lay down onto the frame so if you have a heavy dog you may need some extra support? I have an 75lb Golden Pyr who loves it and hasn't had any issues lying on the floor. I got a kennel mat (Drymate) to help with any moisture and to pad it.
