Lion Brand Yarn Mandala Ombré Yarn with Vibrant Colors, Soft Yarn for Crocheting and Knitting, Harmony, 1-Pack

This is the first yarn “cake” I’ve had the pleasure of working with. The cake of yarn is smaller than I thought it would be, but I started a blanket with this yarn, not sure what to expect. I’m very pleased with the softness of the yarn and ease of working with. I wish each yarn cake had more yards in it, but I love working with this yarn. I started out with 2 and then bought 4 more of the same color. This yarn is a little lighter than I expected, but is working up great. It’s beautiful, the way the color seems hand dyed. I couldn’t find the end strand in the center, so I’m having to work from the outside, but not a big deal. Will probably be buying again. It’s definitely worth the price and will make a good warm blanket.

It is a pleasure to work with, has generous runs of color between transitions, and has not pilled yet after several washings. I gave it one point less because it tends to have knots that can impact your project when trying to make it symmetrical. The knots do not seem to be normal factory supply knots, and they tend to happen around the transition between the lightest and darkest colors, which amplifies the impact on a project. I used it along with another size 3 acrylic baby yarn to make an extra large tunisian crochet sweater. I used this yarn as the forward pass and the gray baby yarn in the return pass (or following pass in my case) using a long, double ended hook. It made an attractive double sided medium weight fabric with a lovely drape that has been well loved. I particularly love the mottled printing on the ombre yarn because it makes it look cozy and interesting. This is what the "wrong" side which shows more of this yarn than the other in the pattern.

I'm working with this yarn right now, making a scarf to go with my navy blue winter coat. It's a bit smaller than "worsted" size -- more like DK -- but it has a lovely soft feel. I love the shading in this "Harmony" color -- very subtle from dark navy to a lighter "denim" look and almost like a tweed. I'll likely be purchasing more of this to do a sweater.

I love this yarn! I am an experienced crocheter and this yarn whipped up a beautiful scarf with two balls of it and the basketweave stitch. It is machine washable, and it did not break on me as I crocheted. I also did not have any knots in the yarn. Finding the starting end was also fairly easy. It made for a warm and beautiful scarf. I will definitely be purchasing this yarn again to make more scarves in the coming months.
