The Apocrypha Paperback – March 9, 2016

The cover of this book is beautiful to me, but the paper quality is seriously lacking. I've only had this book a short time, so there's no way the edges should look this way. The paper is not fine like the paper used in Bibles, but more like lightweight paperback paper, or kindergarten drawing/coloring book paper that begins to yellow pretty quickly. I'm not really disappointed, just surprised it's not better quality considering how nice the cover is. The print is clear and easily read, but based on the paper quality alone, this book isn't one I would purchase as a gift for someone.

On occasion I get a visitor at the door who is trying to sell their brand of religion. I just love to be able to whip out quotes from their Bible or Book of Mormon and put them in my view space. After a few quotes that they can't believe are in their good books, I whip out these forgotten works that were originally intended to be in the Bible. There are an additional fifteen books. (Less depending on how you count them.) Most of them have never heard of the Apocrypha and it truly blows their minds. I then go on the try an enlighten them to the actual beginnings of religion and how man has used previous works to build upon for their "true" religion. Then I like to talk to them about early religions and how mythology fits into the whole "god" myth. I run through the whole, Son of God myth and point out that there are many previous religions that include a divine birth, three wise men, the star, third day resurrection, healing and miracles. Look to Greek, Indian, Babylonian, and other cultures such as the Mayan to see the parallels. In all there is nothing in the Apocrypha that starkly changes the Bible. But it does provide a way to show people that there is a chance that their "true" religion is based upon something else.

Essential reading for the believer. The standards by which these books were rejected would also require rejecting half the Bible. Rather than allow corrupt priests to choose your scriptures, read them yourself and decide in prayer what value god can give out of them.

Easy to read and understand

It was exactly what i wanted, and better then the red kjv apocrypha thats also available.

I appreciate being able to find a full English version of the book of Judith and Macabees and others of this time period but the print is *tiny.*

Great product really answers my questions on why bible is confusing to read. My original fort was that pages are missing like bible isn't completely there.
