ToAuto 6" 12" 22" 3 Axis Digital Readout DRO Display 5um Precision TTL Linear Glass Scale for Milling Machine,150mm+300mm+550mm

Display is bright and clear to read. DRO display feels light. Probably due to traditional size and large buttons with newer smaller internal electronics. Everything assembled well enough. Anyone buying one of these will be using it for various machines. The linear encoders come with brackets. These are pretty worthless, so be prepared to fabricate your own for your purposes. I don't know about long term but so far after a few weeks I have no issues. The aluminum flex shielding on the encoders is light but will prevent the wires from rubbing through for some time. The slide on the encoders is chrome plated plastic not metal. I give it 5 stars not because it is superior in every way, but because the combination of display and sized linear encoders was perfect for my application. Given alternatives would cost 2 - 3 times more , I think this is a very good value. Also very modular. If one piece fails then replace just that piece. Seems like it is well worth the money.

First, customer service was easy to work with to confirm correct scale length requirements. The kit came with lots of mounting brackets and hardware, all easily modified for my application. I even did the "Z" axis. The "Y" axis required some ingenuity. I made a drill jig for the holes out of scrap steel to keep my holes straight. Use sharp bits! I'm very happy! Will buy again for my lathe.

As with all of these, you will have to do some customization for your specific machine, but there are endless YT vids about this. I'd give this 5 stars, works great. But... I decided I like the LCD display controller version much more. Go that route, you will not regret it. Much nicer user interface. Regardless, the scales work great.

I am very happy with my new DRO. There was a minor problem with a piece of equipment when it was delivered. I contacted customer service and "Mary" was very helpful and sent a replacement part very quickly. Good customer service means a lot when you purchase online products and I was very happy with how my problem was handled. I would certainly buy other products from ToAuto again.

My experience began with interpreting what I judged to be a cryptic set of instructions for ordering the correct lengths. Once I broke the "code" I was able to order components that I could adapt to my installation. Shipment arrived well packaged and, even though the shipper did their best in trying to damage some of the packaging, the good job of packing from the supplier prevented damage to the components. My installation involved a mini mill so finding a means for installing the DRO took a LOT of advance planning. I did find it necessary to fabricate brackets for my installation as none of the installation hardware that came with the kit met my needs. I must admit that, even with planning, some of my ideas didn't work as well as I had hoped but I did eventually find the right combination of fabricated accessories to make it all work. This is not something I'd recommend for the novice. It is not a custom fit and, regardless of the individual set up or any shop, it will require some imagination and understanding of mechanical systems to make it work. I'm happy with my purchase.

This thing is inaccurate, quality is a joke, installation is not worth drilling into your machine. DRO turns on and that’s about it. Scales are super glitchy. Old glass style. One of the scales …. I don’t even know what it’s doing. All over the place. DO NOT BUY! Save your money and buy better when you can afford better. I got what I paid for. TRASH! Very disappointed. Instructions are in a foreign English language that is of zero help. Good luck if you have to rely on them.

A little difficult to install. The instructions are not very clear. You may have to fabricate a little. But an awesome digital readout for the money.

Everything was installed and appeared to be working fine for the first month. Then the display (entire dispay) began to blink out and come back on and reset. That made using it extremely difficult with constant resets. This became more consistent finally the unit will not come on at all. Its not the scales as the entire unit was shutting down. After getting in touch with the vendor they are sending a replacement display to fix the defective unit. I am waiting till it arrives so I can perform some detailed work....To be continued?

I almost cancelled my order due to doubts about import costs - this DRO set was advertised as Canadian stock but there were none available and it was shipped directly from China. In response to my cancellation email, customer service offered to refund up to $30 on customs/duties so I decided to carry on with the purchase. I am glad I did. The shipping was free and handled by DHL who also did the import paperwork. There was no duty at all and only GST was charged - no other fees. It also came earlier than estimated and arrived in two boxes in good condition (well packaged to prevent damage).It does come with a printed operator guide. It has a few typos but is easy enough to understand and has examples of all functions. It is not a textbook, so if you are new to DROs you might want to watch some Youtube videos - Blondihacks has one on a very similar model.I have used almost all the functions and the DRO works perfectly. The DRO is more accurate than I can achieve with the mill it is attached to - I typically work to .001"/.02mm.There is no installation guide for the digital scales as this differs greatly with the machine they are being mounted on. I have included some photos of how I mounted the scales to my Busy Bee/Craftex CX600 milling machine. Some basic hardware is provided that can be used to make mounting brackets and scale covers but you have to puzzle it out yourself. Of course, you have a mill so you can make brackets can't you?The scales have generous lengths of very flexible armoured cable which is easy to feed around the machine. The mounting bracket for the readout itself is pretty sturdy and I mounted mine to the wall behind/beside the mill as you can see in the photo. The DRO allows you to set the positive/negative direction of the scale so that you can mount them whichever orientation is best for cable routing and keeping chips out of the scales.Customer service is good. They check with you after purchase to make sure you are getting the correct length of scale (they are listed by the length they can measure and are therefore several inches longer in total length). As noted, they responded quickly to my emails.Overall, I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

For the money I think it’s a very good product it’s going to take me a little time to learn how to use it manual at times is a little iffy But all in all I’m happy

I had to reorder 1 linear scale because I broke one. After few emails everything was perfect.

This product provides greater accuracy than the hand feed system in machining.
