Best computer related purchase in a long time
I have a SSD and a SATA DVR that I wanted to add to computer that has maxed out the SATA ports. I did not want to buy a PCI X controller. I purchased these cables instead. Windows recognized the devices immediately, the plug is nice and tight where it plugs into the back of the SATA device, and it is fast. Now the devices I wanted to add work great but they are also portable. A very fine product that is high quality. With the SDD I do not want or need a metal case so this system works great. The plug also has a green and red light to let you know it has power and communication with the USB port. The green light actually shows data transfer by flashing as the device pulgged into the cable is reading or writing data. Very handy feature.NICE!

Great idea!!
I bought this because I had old laptop hdd laying around...I had bought a converter case, but found it to be a pain to swap out. After receiving this i plugged it in and it worked right away. PROs...works instantly, no drivers needed with windows. Easy to store. CONs...plug does not stay in place well, to solve that i glued the plug to the hdd drive. Also the case is plastic and has no vents so the hdd heats up..be carefull. I plan to drill holes in the the plastic to let the hdd breathe. You really dont need the caes if you are not traveling. It is easy to swap drives without the case...it is a true plug and play.

Works as expected.
I haven't had to use both USB plugs yet, but it does work fine. I transferred my data from my laptop that died, onto a new computer with this adapter. I just took the hard drive out of the dead laptop, plugged this adapter into it, plugged the USB into the new one and it shows up as a new device on the computer. It even has LED lights to show if you have power or if it's being accessed. Works great, no complaints!

What a bargain for testing drives
This cable does the trick... and with TWO USB plugs, even an older USB 1.0 computer can be extenally plugged into and it will power your stray SATA drive so you can see if it works and/or what's on it!For a few bucks, what a good gadget drawer item!

USB 2.0 to SATA Serial ATA 15+7 22P Adapter Cable For 2.5" HDD Laptop Hard...
Advertised to work with SSD and it didn't. I had to return two Samsung SSD back because the problem it caused on them - it could not write to sector. However, I purchased another adapter certified to work with SSD and was able to clone my HDDs flawlessly.

Excellent
Works better than another connector I bought previously. The previous connector would not read the files from an old HDD and would make a ticking noise and stop. This made me think the HDD had a problem, but my friend told me this adapter would do the trick. Because it was so cheap I bought it and to my surprise it worked.

If you want to take the hard drive out and ...
If you want to take the hard drive out and try to plug it in to the computer to get the stuff this is not going to work... the computer would read the hard drive however it won't pop up to take the stuff out...

Laptop SATA hard drive adapter cable
I use this to check out the health of laptop hard drives before I install them so that I will not have to duplicate the effort should I accidently install a corrupt or bad hard drive. It works perfect. I love it.
