Good quality to make Pauling Vitamin C supplement
I've always been a believer in Vitamin C to prevent and get rid of colds. (Of course the most effective way to not catch colds is to not touch your hands to anywhere on your face until you wash them after being around people or objects handled by people.) Earlier this year I learned it is important for the heart since it fights inflammation. I studied the online research by Linus Pauling, who won multiple nobel prizes. He is called the Father of Vitamin C. I wanted to mix up his specific formula for a liquid Vitamin C supplement using l-ascorbic acid, aluminum-free baking soda, and water. The quality of this L-ascorbic acid is good. I try to remember to take my Pauling liquid formula every day with each meal. I know it works, because I started to get the sore-throat symptoms when I was forgetting to take it. Since it is in the frig, it is a case of out of sight, out of mind. It was that bad sore throat where it feels like a gland getting very tender and sore. I immediately made a fresh batch and the symptoms were gone after a couple of doses. It works much faster than the vitamin C pills I took before. By the way, his formula is in grams. You can use a free converter on the Internet to convert grams to ounces and also a converter to convert to tablespoons. I then cut his formula in half so I mix it up fresh more often (lasts longer than a week). Tip: make it in a large bowl first before pouring in a bottle because the baking soda really foams up. Store it in a brown bottle to keep the refrigerator light out of it. Vitamin C is sensitive to light. Also, keep your L-asscorbic acid powder in a dark, sealed container. I roll the bag of L-ascorbic powder in such a way to force the air out as much as possible, then place it in a dark container. If you don't have a dark container, just wrap the bag in foil after rolling the bag. UPDATE: Apparently it is better not to go for cheaper L-ascorbic acid. After I used all of this brand, I bought one from a different company that gave me double the amount for a little less money. When it arrived, I noticed a slightly different texture, but it was packaged beautifully in foil that keeps out the light. However, after taking it every day for two months, I was exposed to a cold. Next thing I know, I had the worse cold I've had in years. Obviously, the product was inferior. So I recommend this one on Amazon because I never got a cold while using it.

Love it
Good, easy to use. I use to preserve some home made seasoning and is great. better than using vinegar and mor acid. If you are going to try don't use too much in a batc. No smell

Skincare
I actually put this into my bath water. And I loved it. Topical vitamin C is so good for your skin. There are so many products for baths and face serums that advertise it, but in reality are primarily other, questionable, ingredients. Finding something that's about as close to pure as you can get in manufacturing was awesome. It dissolved very well. I put a couple tablespoons in to a full bath. I noticed a slight metallic scent but it didn't bother me at all and my skin felt very nice after a 20 minute soak. I'd like to try dissolving it into a carrier oil for my face next.

Great for Serum
I'm not sure why other reviewers are saying this is not for serum - I've been using it in both a daily fresh Vitamin C serum for my face, as well as mixing it into a weekly lotion preparation for my body. It works quite well, and I DO believe it makes a difference in the brightness of my skin. Occasionally if I'm impatient it can be gritty, so a finer powder would probably be even better - but this works quite well and the price and purity is certainly spot on. As a daily facial serum - I do a simple mix of hyaluronic acid and a pinch of this Vitamin C powder, mix it right in the palm of my hand until the powder dissolves (about 20 seconds, maybe a bit longer), then apply it. Easy peasy and totally fresh. My lotion recipe is much more complicated (and changes with the seasons or what I feel like my skin needs at the moment, so sorry no simple recipe for you), so I mix up about a week's worth at a time and store it in an amber glass bottle in the fridge. This is to keep the Vitamin C fresh and works quite well. If the lotion changes color, you can bet the Vitamin C has started to oxidize, in which case it's time to throw it out and mix up a new batch, otherwise you're harming your skin more than helping. I hope this helps - I'm a big fan of Vitamin C for both internal and external use, and I've found this powder to be lovely. p.s. Throw in a few capsules of Vitamin E to whatever mixture you're using as well. It's fantastic for your skin, and also works as a natural preservative.

Make your own vitamin c serum
Excellent. I got sick of using chemical laden facial products and so I decided to give making my own vitamin c serum a try. Everyone who has tried my vitamin c serum loves it and on top of that, costs me less then a dollar to make my vitamin c serum that I replace every month since it degrades so quickly! Make your own! It is so easy! It is as easy as mixing it with distilled water and adding some aloe gel! Sometimes though the vitamin c powder takes awhile to dissolve. That is my only gripe.
