Casting Shadows: Creating Visual Dimension in Your Quilts

I'm planning a quilt with visual dimension interest, looks like the book will be helpful

I'm always looking for quilt patterns that are different since I don't like the run of the mill, old style quilts and this book provides this. :)

Gorgeous pictures, full of inspiration, easy to understand, clearly written instructions. I have always been intrigued by 3-D /optical illusion quilts but assumed they'd be difficult to piece. The scariest aspect for me was learning how to select the right fabric to ensure the 3-D depth. No longer, Ms. Wise's well written book has giving me the confidence to tackle the quilt on the cover. She inspires creativity. I foresee my future and it is filled with dimensional quilt making.

I love 3D effects on quilts because I think they look cool. This book gives excellent instructions on how to achieve that look on your own projects, plus there are projects you can do included in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and seeing the quilts in the book and can't wait to apply their techniques on my own quilts!

This book is well written and features some fascinating ideas. It will definitely appeal to those who are interested in stretching the concept of quilting into the realm of fabric art. The more traditional quilter will find value in incorporating some of the techniques into their designs to make them even more personal and unique. It is a fun book and has merit for a wide audience as the ideas span all levels and types of quilters and can be incorporated into other medium as well. A lovely book.

Very nice book, can really get your brain churning with ideas. It is so easy to read this book and come up with more of your own ideas than you have time to make! Her instructions are very well written and the book is easy to read and follow. I made one where you use the bleach to "discharge" the color from the fabric. I made it look like falling leaves and it turned out well enough to earn a place on my living room wall. Thank you Colleen!

This book has lots of ideas for color play and dimension. Just change the colors, and you can make several different impressions with just one pattern. They are not difficult, but for me, it would be better to have a quilt board to play with the blocks. All in all, an excellent book for those who want a three dimensional look to their artwork.

After I got this book from the library, I knew I had to have one of my own. I love quilts that have optical illusions in them, and this book has many! The patterns are so unique yet the directions are simple and easy to understand. Colleen Wise is a very talented quilt artist who creates quilts "outside the box". If you want to create an unusual quilt, you must have this book.

Adoro i libri che trattano un solo aspetto di patchwork ma in molto dettaglio. Volevo fare un pannello con l'effetto in 3-D e qui ho trovato tante idee utilizzando metodi diversi per ottenere dei risultati straordinari. La copertina è un esempio di come si ottiene un effetto in 3-D variando soltanto le tonalità dei colori. Poi c'è più modi di usare le ombre, e anche foglie che sembrano galleggiare sull'acqua. Il libro è facile a seguire - l'autrice spiega bene ogni metodo con illustrazioni e foto e poi c'è un progetto utilizzando il metodo - 5 in tutto. Forse non per principianti.
