A Compact Outdoor tool
D2 is a great Steel (Bob Dozier's customs are all D2)......holds a better edge than any stainless, less corrosion than basic High Carbon, much easier to sharpen than all the Super Custom Steels. Design has two major benefits. It comes in a great sheath, top to bottom maybe 2" tall. Barely overhangs a 1.5" belt. Getting in and out of bush planes, trucks, high sided aluminum drift boats.....all worlds easier....won't snag bowstrings, fishing rods, etc. so yeah its "small", but a much different small than a typical 4" blade with a 5" handle strapped to your belt....butI think it will do everything a lower 48 small blade will. Have watched the Upik ladies on the beach of the Kenai river use bigger Ullus (twice the size, made from Old saw blades by a Homer smith) to filet out 30 pound Salmon....and with cold wet hands and slippery fish, the Ullu doesn't put your off hand at risk like a 9" filet blade does. If you wanted to filet a 14" grayling or rainbow for the skillet over an open fire... this will work terrific. It is hard to see such an odd shaped blade with fresh eyes, but this steel, this sheath, this price...you ought to try it.

Best for people with stroke disabilities
I had a stroke, and preparing food became a challenge. I lost the use of one arm. Cutting food items for prep or out eating a steak dinner with my wife became a challenge. This knife ended that. It is easy to use one handed and is razor sharp. It is the perfect size to use at home or at my favourite steakhouse. I definitely recommend this knife.

I'd Recommend This to Anyone up to Switch Their Knife Game a Bit
A very small knife that is useful to carry when fishing and when hunting. The people of the cold north have been using these for ages and finding a company that makes them in The USA with D2 Steel and puts a proper Heat Treatment just made it amazing. As a Knifemaker, I understand the importance of information about a product,The Steel:As I mentioned, It is D2 Steel, a High Carbon Steel used in industrial settings. It is often said that it is a Semi-Stainless Steel, and that is because of it's high content of Chromium. No steel is Stainless or Rust Free and even Stainless can develop surface rust. This knife is hard to stain though, and it will hold up for awhile without being oiled like 1095 would. D2 is very very resistant, therefore, a bit harder to sharpen, but once sharpened, it holds an edge for a lifetime. The Blade:It is Full tang, and the edges are 90 degrees so you could strike a Ferro Rod for a Fire. It is also Beveled on one side, which means the other side is completely Flat. Many people were not aware of this. The Handle:It is a very good material that is water resistant and is pinned with two brass rods and has a lanyard hole, though the snap of the leather sheath gets in the way of one.The Sheath:Made out of Leather and in the US, Very high quality and properly made with a welt and all. It has a snap closing system that serves it's purpose and a belt loop to attach to a belt.Overall this is a very good knife and it is very useful in the right hands.I'd Recommend This to Anyone up to Switch Their Knife Game a Bit.

The perfect tool!
My husband recently lost his arm. He wanted to find something to help him cut his meat and other food. I found this for him. He loves it! It cuts through everything we have put under it, including chicken bones. This Ulu knife gives him a wonderful sense of accomplishment. He takes it to the restaurants with him! Nobody has to cut his food for him anymore! The knife is sharp and the case is heavy duty! Most have!

Disappointed and hard to sharpen
Expensive and hard to sharpen! I bought this about a year ago and have used it a few times on whitetail deer. Nothing special about it. It is smaller than I thought it would be. The lanyard hole rivet was deformed so I sent it back. They did nothing to fix the problem and returned the same knife in the same condition. Disappointed, not what I was expecting.

Knife great but.....
First off the knife and sheath look and feel great. The way the handle feels in my hand if perfect. I am replacing another ulu of a different brand. I use them primarily for chopping vegetables and skinning larger game such as deer, elk as well as smaller fish. The small size to me is a plus on my belt I can hardly tell it’s there. My wife loves it in the kitchen as well using a wooden bowl type chopping block it takes less effort and once you get the rocking motion down it’s much quicker. Now unfortunately I have to list the bad. This has to do with the seller more than the product. Whoever took the knife from the sheath replaced it wrong and cut into the sheath for a large are even going completely through in one spot. I don’t think it came from the manufacturer like this as the knife was inserted wrong and they would know better. It had to took much force to do this much damage and the ulu was stuck into the leather and hard to withdraw the first time. I emailed them as soon as delivered which was days ago with still no response. I will update if any changes. Here are a couple pics of what I've described. The belt sheath was one of the top selling points for me as I carry it while on several day hunting/fishing trips.
