Do not blindly consume iron. It causes oxidative stress. If youre anemic especially vegetarian, you might be short on copper! The body cannot move non heme iron from ferritin to hemoglobin without ceruloplasmin which is 95% copper. Do not only consume copper, it will deplete zinc in your body. If youre low on copper get a copper glycinate supplement and take it in the morning WITH food (best option is orange juice to increase absorption) and take a zinc+magnesium supplement at night. This will fix the issue without having to supplement iron when you already have stored unused iron literally rusting away in your body. You can also try lactoferrin, it helps move stored iron.
