Got this for my grandpa who wanted to make himself a pot of beans like his mom used to make him on the farm in the 50s. It was a great size for him. He was having a hard time finding a smaller pressure cooker to just make himself a small portion. He absolutely loved how easy it was to use and open- he’s in his late 80s. He said he hadn’t had beans like the ones he made in 60 years! This is a great product that was also a splendid price.

Strong build, cooks fast, easy to stir food. Okay: Whistle very loud, no pressure indicator, gasket may wear out.

I bought this product to mainly cook meat. However, the lid leaks no matter how I secure it. To make things worse, after only a couple of weeks, the bottom of the cooker has dark spots which cannot be removed. The cooker is defective, leaks, and the bottom of the cooker has spots that can't be removed. I have tried to wash the bottom but the spots just won't go away. Please do not buy Hawkins pressure cookers from this manufacturer because you will not be supported by them. Amazon simply passes the buck and asks you to get in touch with Hawkins. I emailed them, and they did get back to me, asking me to submit evidence of the cooker's defects. They asked me to send them photos, videos and a photo of the lid leaking. It seems that they are not interested in either replacing the cooker or issuing a refund. Business and ethics rarely ever exist together. It's business as usual, corrupt, exploitative, and shrewd. Please buy Prestige instead. Stay away from Hawkins.
