Farid ad-Din ‘Attār’s Memorial of God's Friends: Lives and Sayings of Sufis (Classics of Western Spirituality (Paperback))

I love this book! It is one of the few historical books on the early Sufis and provides a huge wealth of information and teachings. We learn all about the great Masters Oveys Gharani and Ibrahim Adham, and many more! The translation is good, I just wish they had translated the whole Tazkarat ol-Oliya :-/ Maybe one day....

This is a very interesting book, full of stories and anecdotes. The translation seems a little lack-luster but the content is very very interesting.

Brilliant

This almost has the status of Hadith, a major source of historical and anecdotal information about Sufis prior to Attar. It is perhaps for Isslam what the lives of the saints was for Christians.
