Top Secret perfect solution for hanging baskets! I love it!
I’ve researched many times on how to have pretty, healthy hanging flower baskets. No matter what I do, they just shrivel up and die.The key thing I got from my research was to use a soil water surfactant. This helps the soil hold moisture. When you have a dry pot, the soil shrinks into the root ball, and you will notice that the soil has shrunk in from the sides of the pot leaving a half inch or more of dried up soup depending on the lack of water. This signifies a completely dry plant all around the pot, and when you water, the water literally drains out super fast down through the gap along the inside pot edge and soil. . The plant is not watered at all, but you think it has because the water is pouring out the bottom of the pot.Penterra Soil Penetrant and Wetting Agent has worked perfectly. You only need 3 oz in a gallon of water! I put it in my pots and they are all retaining water, yay! I keep on a daily watering schedule in the heat of this Alabama summer for my pots and they are doing great. My biggest problem is that I live in Gulf Shores Alabama and we are experiencing frequent rain showers and it causes my baskets to be overwatered now. I am having to bring my hanging baskets under the house eaves now because the soil surfactant works so well. It is of a slightly oily texture and you only use it every 6 months and it is not an issue and is very cost effective. I highly recommend this product. It’s perfect. You can also use it outside in your flower beds. I have very sandy soil due to living on the coast in Alabama and it works really well. You can even use it on your lawn! Go for, it. You won’t be disappointed.

Good but use caution
When I first got this for my hanging baskets, I read that you have to apply it directly to the soil. So I did that. However I think I overwatered the plants and they died. I bought replacement hanging baskets applied this only to the soil and have been very careful not to overwater. I do find this helps me water less and prevents a lot of the water from draining out of the basket. Some water still drains but it’s a lot better and my baskets look healthier than they ever have when it is hot out. I used to have to water at least twice a day to maintain my plants. Now I am only watering once every other day. But users should know that you have to make sure you’re not making the soil too wet with this especially when you’re used to watering twice a day. I applied it directly to the soil by placing a funnel touching the soil and pouring the solution into the funnel. I am using this about once a month on the soil and I am putting 1 teaspoon and a gallon of water to apply it. 1 gallon does about two of my baskets.

Great for hydrophobic soil
This summer I had a few beds develop a nasty - and I do mean nasty - case of hydrophobia. I was hoping this would do the trick. I feared that those beds would struggle for a year. But I saw improvement even after only a few uses.

Measuring
I had watched a video on how to get potted plants to produce more abundant flowering growth. On top of fertilizing the potted flowers, it seemed the missing ingredient was keeping the soil loose and the soil from clumping and drawing back from the edge of the pots...Soil Penetrant/wetting agent was suggested. I do believe I am getting better results, although not sure the measurements of ingredient was properly explained. Because the first time I tried the solution some of my flowers lost color and died. It did not kill the plant, and flowers came back better that before, but was concerned seeing the "bleached" flowers soon after treatment and worried I had killed my plant and was sad to loose flowers. I promised myself the next treatment (once a month) I will use less product per bucket of water and see how that goes.

Plants are no longer hungry
I only recently learned how to take care of plants. My mom gave me all of hers when she no longer could, but l had to study to figure out what to do when the blooms stop. This is a really good product for helping them, l found out that when you transplant a plant into a new pot, it may be hard after awhile for water to get totally into the roots because of the way the dirt stays around the roots. This helps get oxygen and nutrients to the roots. I am very happy with it.

Wish I would have known about this product years ago
This product is amazing. We have very hard, clay soil in Austin Texas and this product allows the soil to become loose and able to absorb water. The plants love it. During this current drought, Penterra has allowed me to water my plants once per week, eliminating the need for daily or every other day watering.
