Must have for all small animals.
My guinea pig babies have a room to themselves. I bought two of these and put them together giving them lots of space and providing safety. I no longer have to keep them caged and I don't have to worry when I leave the room. If yours don't have a whole room, it's good for play time on the floor in one area, you don't have to monitor there where-abouts.

Good small animal playpen
I use this for floor time for my hamsters and Guinea pigs. My Guinea pigs have never escaped from it and this playpen offers plenty of space for them. My Syrian hamster is an escape artist and is able to climb the fencing to escape. My dwarf hamster does not even attempt to escape. The fence has never once fallen over and holds together very well.

Versatile size and shape
Clipped 2 together in order to make a large "floor time" area for my guinea pigs. It's kinda short and they could probably jump it, but they never have. It folds up accordion-style and is easy to store. Colorful and extremely versatile. Can be moved around into different shaped play areas.

Works for SUPERVISED floor time; buy at least two for reasonable play space
I have a syrian hamster and bought one of these for floor time. I quickly found that the space the pen encloses is quite small and two would be necessary for it to be large enough for floor time to feel any different from cage time for my buddy . . . I still love this set-however- because it is so easy to fold, it is cute, and it is compact. It also is a great starter pen that you can expand as you see fit over time. I bought one pen four months ago for my baby hamster. Then I had two about a month later since he had grown bigger . . . Now- as a crazy hamster lady- I have four pens that I connect together for one GIANT play space for my Syrian. This allows my Syrian hamster to have TONS of space to run in a very easy to set up (and take down and store) pen. He basically can take over the whole living room at this point and I just block off areas that he could crawl into that would be troublesome (under the couch, under the entertainment center, close to cords of electronics, etc.) I will say my Syrian did quickly learn how to climb out of this pen. As I have made the pen larger, he has lost interest in climbing out, but he still can do so and will try on occasion. My hamster can get over the pen in less than 4 seconds when determined . . . yours may figure out how to too. So PLEASE use with supervision if you don't want to go searching for your rodent around the house later.

We bought two of these and we are really happy with them
We bought two of these and we are really happy with them. We have a new baby bunny and we wanted her to have a place to play and give her room to run around. These pens are not made for rabbits, they can jump out very easily. They are made for larger rodents like guinea pigs. So what we did was use zip ties to 'stack' one length of the pen on top of another and used it to box in a corner of our living room. This made a really nice area about 3 ft x 6 ft. She runs around and plays in there and even hops and 'binkys' around and she's very happy. It's a great way to keep track of her and keep her from going behind the sofa or behind the tv area where dangerous cords are that she could chew. Rabbits need quite a lot of room for exercise and I wanted to make sure she had that room and was also safe while running around. I don't want her squashed by the recliner or electrocuted from chewing some wire and she's so small and at such a young age that she can fit into just about any nook or cranny and doesn't know not to chew things. I would definitely recommend these pens, they are not expensive and would be great for just about any animal. Ordering two and zip tying them together was still cheaper in the long run than buying the same length of caging that was taller.

Good pen, but DO NOT leave pet unattended
The best part about this pet playpen is that is folds away for storage really nicely. I bought it for my dwarf hamster to have a slight change of scenery and a little more floor area than his cage. It's made up of 8 rigid panels interlocked at the "hinges" so that you can pretty much adjust the overall shape of the pen to some degree - which is very convenient if you do not have too much of a wide space or if your floor space isn't a perfect octagon : / The only problem I have with this pen is that it's too low - my hamster discovered how to climb over the top -_- So, he'll sniff, scratch and explore for a few minutes, then it's just a matter of time before he'll use the horizontal bar at the bottom to boost himself up and using his paw pads, he'll make it to the top and over the edge! It's a fun little game trying to catch him/stop him climbing; but I soon return him to his cage because I don't want him to get used to climbing over the edge of the pen - then that's all he'll want to do and that'll render the pen completely useless. So, I didn't return it because I just use it as a controlled way for me to interact with him outside his cage every other day, to feed him treats, veggies, etc and like I said for him to have a change in scenery/terrain - which is why I bought it in the first place :) Bottom line: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET UNATTENDED - HE WILL ESCAPE! =O If you'd like to have one eye on your hamster and one eye on something else - place him in a hamster ball (IF he's up for it), make sure doorways, stairs, etc are secure and let him roll! But be mindful of how long he's in his ball, though.

Great Exercise Enclosure
I originally bought this product years ago, but after much use and no more gerbils, I donated it. Now I have a new young energetic gerbil that needs playtime and exercise outside his glass fish tank. The pen has 8 colored panels that can be enlarged by attaching a second set which I did . None of our gerbils have ever "escaped" by climbing over the panels, but with this said, I would never leave any animal in it unattended. There is potential for any animal to escape so buy it or not based on your animal's personality. I agree the panels could be higher. The pen can be moved depending on the size and weight of your animal since it just sits on the surface. If outside you may use spikes to hold it in place. Since it is metal with colored coating your animal can chew it. This pen is intended for what it says, a playpen where animal's need supervision.

BEST PUPPY PLAYPEN/FENCE EVER
First off this this was less than ten dollars, all I can say to that is thank you! I got this for my French bulldog puppy to use as a room blocker but i didn't want to ACTUALLY have to step over it because that just gets annoying. Ninian is a 12 week old Frenchie and she can NOT get over this. I got it when she was smaller but even as she's grown it's tall enough to deter her from going anywhere and if she tries to stand on it its great because it will bend a little bit and bounce her back so she wants nothing to do with it after that. I also have a very mindful 75 pound American Staffordshire Terrier, I wanted the gate short so he could step over it but he's so gentle i have to "open" the gate if i want him to be free but that's probably just a weirdo Ronin thing. this is 9 feet long and 9 inches tall *cheap *effective *carnival cute (i plan on spray painting mine with black outdoor paint) *super easy to put away move carry (i mean it can fit in a girls purse/backpack) take it anywhere i want to take her with me
