Whellen Selfie Ring Light for Phone, Laptop, Tablets Camera Photography Video, Rechargeable Clip on Ring Light Portable Selfie Fill Light with 40 LED

This ring light is pretty great! This would be a GREAT product if you're taking photos with your phone and want a small, light, portable ring light for some extra glow! But it's not a great tool for anything long (video calls, etc.) It clips easily onto my computer screen and phone. It fits really easily into my purse and it's SUPER lightweight. The one button on it functions really well for both changing the light color as well as dimming the light (although, it takes a minute to figure out how to do that... practice makes perfect!)There are only two downsides (which was my reason for 4 stars instead of 5). 1) the light IS bright, but because it's so small, it gets quite diffuse if you're more than about 1 foot away from the light. I'm about 2.5-3 feet from my computer's camera during video calls, so, it only helps a little bit... and 2) when the light is on full brightness (which it has to be for me- see point 1), the battery life is pretty short. it maybe lasts 1 hour, so, it's not great for longer video calls or if you are on multiple calls a day.If you're only using it for short bursts of time and from no more than an arms distance away, this is a GREAT product for you!

I hesitated about buying this because of a few reviews saying it wasn't bright enough, so this is about brightness.In physics there is an inverse square law that says that the intensity of light from a point source decreases with the inverse square of the distance, so if you double the distance, the brightness is 1/4, and if you triple the distance the brightness is 1/9. The Whellen Selfie is bright enough at 12 inches, but when I clipped it to my desktop monitor at 32 inches, the brightness is 1/6, and not enough, so to clip on your phone it will work well, but for something else you'll need to find a way to mount it closer. Note also that the brightness is adjustable and that the warm and cool settings are dimmer than the normal setting.As photo light sources go, this is pretty small and so you will see shadows accentuated on your face. That's why serious photographers use umbrella-sized or multiple lights for more even lighting.One weird thing is that the emergency signaling mode flashes "S M S" in Morse code, not SOS.Overall, this works well as a selfie light. It has a generous clip size. It's easy to operate even without instructions. It can double as a book light and you can get around in the dark in a pinch. Any micro USB cable (included) can charge it.UpdateIt's now 2 years later, and surprisingly this gadget hasn't ended up forgotten in a box. I still use it, but not for selfies. I use it clipped to the phone facing outward as a light for taking close photos with the phone camera at night. It's just so utterly convenient.

Attached to laptop without being too bright in the eyes but lightens up your face in dark rooms for zoom calls

This is not very bright, and thus not very useful, except in certain situations. I only used it once and chalked it up to experience. May find some use in microscopy in the future.

I love this product. It is cheap, small, and useful. My zoom meetings are usually an hour so, the negative thing is that is bright only for 40 minutes, the rest of the time you will be experiencing how the light start getting deemed until is all dead. Unless you charge it while you are using it but my charger does not match my laptop so I cannot do that. But I will recommend using this light for your zoom meeting. It is great.

This is a great light if you're looking for portability and decent lighting for a selfie here and there (and use it primarily with your phone). Five stars for that use case. I tried to use it to add some definition to my virtual meetings from my dining room office, and it's below average at best. Still four stars because it works well for what it is - just a head's up to spend more money on something else if you need constant light for hour-long meetings without the battery draining (I know I could plug it into my computer and keep it charging while using it, but the cord kept getting in the way). Again, good product, but not ideal for a go-to wireless lighting solution for long virtual meetings on your laptop.

Works better than I thought. This price point was worth giving it a try. I use it in my laptop for Zoom meetings. The cord just barely makes it into the computer’s USB port for power. I would have given it 5 stars if the cord was a couple inches longer so the cord wouldn’t be stretched to the max to the USB port. I didn’t want to worry about running out of charge during a meeting by relying on precharged battery power. I did find another longer compatible cord around the house- so I solved my own issue. It has great portability. I used it right out of the box the first day. I am very leased with it. Recommend.

Updated Review: This light is so handy. Lightweight, portable and clips to almost anything. I’m able to take it with me anywhere I need light. Have already gone through many drain/recharge cycles. Battery holds up! Very happy with my purchase! Great little ring light for doing social media videos as well!Original Review: Bought a Whellen, received a generic. Is rechargeable and worked. Very simple instructions for any age or skill level. Tap turns it on with both colors, another tap chooses cool tone and the 3rd tap changes to warm tones. Press and hold to change intensity of light. 4th tap turns off. No memory of last illumination or tone. Not a small light.

I bought this to clear some shadows for my work zoom calls. I sit 2-3 ft away from it and it doesn't help much. When I sit closer it does fine. I wish it was brighter.
