Very easy to install the PlayStation 3 will automatically format it the hard drive to match that PlayStation format no worries. And for those of you that don't know how to install a hard drive and I PlayStation 3 or four you can look up hard drive replacement 4 the PS 3 and watch the video it's very simple to do thanks again to the seller this product

Worked great for my PS3
I installed this in my PS3 pretty easily. I backed up my PS3 80 GB to a 128 GB USB drive (which was already formatted FAT32), then installed this drive, downloaded and installed firmware via the USB drive, set up the PS3 and then restored over the PS3 backup. It took a few hours but was straightforward. I needed to activate and redownload a few games from the PlayStation Store but the process was free.

do buy!!!
So today is dec 15 2014 and i just got this. I installed it with no issue updateing my fat ps3 40gb to 320. Just keep in mind to format it useing the latest ps3 update or it wont work. Just get a usb and create the folders PS3 and UPDATE then just drag the download into update then put the update file in your PS3 folder and done in less then a hour with no issues. Great buy.

Did not last even two months -- corrupt data.
Where do I begin? At first, I thought the slow load times were a result of the device not being formatted, so I did that. Things worked just okay for a while, and I was willing to look past the long load times (because there is a lot more on this hard drive than my previous one), until things were at a standstill. In fact, games stopped loading altogether, and I lost some files I'm never going to get back on account of them becoming corrupt.I would appreciate it if these hard drives were tested a little more thoroughly before being made for sale. It could just be that this was a fluke, but it nonetheless severely ruined my week to lose all of that data.

Needs to be formated to work on ps3
would have gave it 4 stars or better but it did not work for me at the start like all the reviews said. If it doesnt work for you after you put into your ps3 youll need a few things to make it work.1) a computer2) removeable flash drive3)screwdriverIts a pain. Youll have to go to playstation website then download an update. Then hold the ps3 on switch until 3 beeps then reformat the entire thing then set up everything on the ps3 all over again ..like your passwords and user id etc.. its easy to do i guess but its a real pain esp. when i was told that all i have to do was install the harddrive smh but at least it works now

Seamless
My PS3 hard drive was junk after the 4.45 update. I tried several fixes stated online and even tried contacting Sony, but all avenues were closed off (even Sony). Once I bought this Hard Disk and popped it in, the restore was seamless. No errors, no lengthy waits, no crazy messages and best of all you can not hear the drive spin like the original Sony (Toshiba) hard drive. Sold as advertised, no frills, no excess.

HardDive
This worked really well for maybe 6 months (at most). Then it stopped working. I don't know why. Playstation was stationery not dusty but one day it was working and the next, playstation could not recognize it.
