Nice so far, pretty easy to put in place and seems to hold firm. Other reviewers mentioned that it may looses up over time, and I can see exactly what they are talking about. You first extend the pole until it fits snug, then you spint the unit, which spirals out the 2 ends to make the fit tighter. It works well and is easy to use, but I can see how with bumps, over a few weeks this could easily loosen and fall. So far no issues, that is something I will keep an eye on and change my review if needed.Product is heavy duty and nice build quality. Over all, I'm happy.Update, I've had this for a long time now, still looks like new, still working as good as it did the day I bought it. Very happy with the durability!

After reading reviews for several different products similar to this one, I finally settled on getting this one for my truck. For the most part, I really like it. It is sturdy enough to do the job well and is exactly what I needed. It looks good and works. The only reason that I took off a star on this product is that, at least in my pickup, it has a tendency to come undone over time due to the design. Let me explain --To install this bar is simplicity itself -- you expand it to closely fit the truck using the ratcheting mechanism, locking it into place when the bar fits the bed width. You then rotate the bar to screw out the rubber pads on each end to lock the bar into the bed using the pressure of the rubber pads against the sidewalls of the bed. Overall a simple and effective system. The one downside for which I removed a star is that the bar has a tendency to slowly rotate and un-screw itself which slowly reduces the pressure of the rubber pads against the sides that is holding it in-place. Eventually, the bar starts to slip on one side or the other and then will not perform the task for which it was purchased. If this bar had a locking mechanism that would allow me to lock it so that it would not rotate it would definitely rate 5 stars. As it is, the bar is good quality and has all of the other features that I wanted. It comes undone slowly enough that if I tighten it up occasionally it works fine but that is one annoyance that could easily have been fixed with a simple design change to add a lock ring or other method to lock it in place.

I've read of some people damaging their truck beds by tightening them too much and causing the truck bed walls to buckle (don't be that guy!!). I've had the bar in my truck all winter and it has never moved. I tightened it down just enough so that it didn't move when I pulled on it... but I also don't have tons of weight pushing against it either. I think perhaps those who have had problems may well have been expecting to put a lot of weight against the bar and expected perfect results... that isn't going to happen. This bar is strong, but not super strong, and to get the 'perfect' results you might want, you're going to have to over-tighten the bar and risk causing your bed walls to buckle.

I like the heavy duty strength of the bar. A challenge review when you haven’t actually used product yet.
