Bigger than I thought- works great
I am not sure about all of the negative reviews I saw but this safe is awesome. I actually can't find a negative thing about this safe except for use as a "combat safe" as you'll read below. It is a little complicated but if you go slow and follow the directions it works like a charm. ***HINT***** Since the safe can store 50 fingerprints, and if you are the only person or there are 2 of you with access, make multiple scans of the same finger in slightly different positions during set up. I had it next to my bed for a couple of days and realized I'd have to use a left hand finger at an angle so I held the scan button and placed my finger in at the same awkward angle I'd use if I were lying in bed and it worked 99% of the time on the first try from that weird angle. It is hard to remember the exact place to put your finger sometimes so the more scans you input the more likely it will open on the first try.As for someone else getting in I had 2 people try everything and neither could get the safe to respond. The bolts and door are super heavy, like on a bank vault and it would take a lot to pry your way in. The "emergency key" is not a key that can be copied nor do I think anyone could pick that lock. Bolt it to a wall or the floor and it's not getting carried off easily. If someone does get in you WILL know it because they will have to do physical damage to the safe to get in... like cut the wall of the safe. I can assure you they are not cutting the bolts! For a home gun**See note**, valuables or medications this is the most awesome safe I could have bought especially for the price. I have owned fire boxes and other lock boxes and they have all been broken into because their locks are fairly easy to defeat. This is not easy to defeat. I haven't tried the "greasy fingerprint" way of beating the fingerprint scanner but if keeping a rag near the unit and wiping the glass after you use it is all it takes then that seems like a minor issue.I open this safe between 2 and 4 times a day and in the past month have not had to change batteries. If you use it for a gun I would suspect the batteries will last a very long time. My plan is to change out my rechargeable batteries every 60 days with a fresh set, just to be sure but the emergency key is easy. The best part of the emergency key is that the lock is hidden and it takes extra steps just to get to the lock. Anyone without knowledge of this safe will think there is no emergency key hole. Can someone with time and heavy tools get into this safe? Yes with enough time but it won't be quiet. This isn't a safe to you can leave out in plain sight and dare someone to get into. It is at least as strong as the best hotel room safe without the fire proof walls.**NOTE** It is possible it takes 2 or 3 times repositioning your finger to get it to read right. If you need a safe that is silent and will open 1st time guaranteed (like for a combat situation) then this isn't the safe for you. The beeps aren't that loud but in a life threatening situation where someone is coming straight to the place I hide my gun, this safe may not be the best. Then again, I don't have children. I keep my gun in the safe when I am not home and then very close to me at night...but not in the safe. I have the safe in a bathroom closet and no one outside the bathroom can hear when I open the safe so it's not really that loud. If you worry about having it open in under 3 seconds every time and without a single sound then get a safe with a mechanical lock. But if you think you will have up to 15 seconds to get to your gun and a couple of beeps quieter than an alarm clock won't destroy your tactical advantage then this safe is a great balance of security and ease of use. (maybe I'll do a video of that situation and post it) I think the motor that moves the bolts is louder than the beeps but I see that as a cool feature. It sounds like it's moving really heavy bolts. The motor moves the bolts in under a second so if your first scan works the safe is open in under 3 seconds. You get 3 tries and then have to push the scan button again and if you get it on the 3rd try the safe is open in under 10 seconds. I'd say 90% of the time I get it on the 1st or 2nd scan.If you want a safe to keep in a closet, drawer or under a bed that only you can get into this is the safe. If you need a safe that keeps someone you trust out, as long as you don't keep the emergency key where they can find it, the this is the best safe out there. So far I have not once had a problem opening it and I keep the emergency key at my office so no one else can get in. This is the best thing I have bought in years...and the coolest. If you need a safe to keep people out of your medications, and those of you who have had that issue understand how hard keeping them out is, and how they have defeated everything else you bought, then this is 100% the best safe you can buy. (Don't forget---DO NOT have the emergency key anywhere where they can find it!!!)I can not speak to the quality control of the company except that my safe was perfect out of the box. If other reviewers had issues, I don't doubt them. But read the reviews. If you follow the well written directions that come with the safe you will leave a great review like I am.

Great safe! Would Highly Recommend! Just remember, you aren't buying a bank vault..........
Nice product. I ordered this via Amazon Warehouse Deals. Stated it was "Used-Like New Condition" in "original packaging". It was about $15-$20 less than ordering a "New" one via Amazon. Arrived in two-days (I have Prime). Packaging was "adequate". It was in the original manufacturer packaging, just appeared to have been "re-sealed" (probably after inspection by Amazon.....maybe a return?). I think Barska could probably include a bit more styro-foam or other protective packaging material. The way mine was packaged, I could envision it potentially getting banged up during "rough" shipping. Mine arrived with no damage that I could see. Programmed it per the directions and it has worked flawlessly so far. I mounted mine to the floor using the 3/8" drop-in anchors I had (I don't like the "sleeve" type of anchor that was included). I have all the needed tools (i.e. rotary hammer) for such an install so it was fairly straight forward. This safe is larger than I expected (I guess I should have looked closer at the dimensions in the ad). It would NOT fit under my bed due to it's height. That's where I'd wanted to originally install, but had to install elsewhere. Check dimensions before you order to make sure it will fit where you want. This safe will hold quite a bit. If you are looking for something to hold a single handgun and some ammo or a bit or jewelry, you probably should look at the Barska mini-biometric safe. This safe is the perfect size if you have a handgun or two, ammo, small jewelry box, important papers (not fire-resistant though....), etc.Other reviewers have complained about the volume of the "beeps". I don't think they are disturbingly loud. I like that the safe beeps if the door is left open for a few minutes. The door is quite heavy-duty but opens easily. The gauge of the steel of the rest of the safe is "adequate". A reasonably determined thief with some basic tools (big pry-bar, angle-grinder, sawzall, etc.) and a bit of time would likely be able to gain entrance to the safe. So if you are looking for ultimate security for your valuables, you should probably look elsewhere. I would guess that those purchasing safes of this size in this price range recognize that they are not buying a bank vault and simply want something to provide some reasonable security for their valuables or to keep firearms away from their children. This safe serves those purposes VERY well. The finger print scanner has worked flawlessly so far. I programmed a couple of my fingers. Long term? Who knows. Barska and their biometric safes have a good reputation and generally positive user reviews. Any technology, even the push-button Simplex type locks, can have problems. To me the convenience of the biometric fingerprint scanner was worth it to not have to remember another combination. I would recommend this product highly if the size fits your needs, you are comfortable with the biometric scanner technology and understand that it likely would not keep out a really determined thief with some common tools and time to spend.

Great Safe!
I bought this safe for my wife and I to have easy access to our handguns and to keep our two young boys away from them! After reading many reviews of fingerprint safes I decided this was going to be the best one for the money. So far I can't complain. We had our fingerprints scanned and the safe working properly within a few minutes of taking it out of the box. I have had this for about a month now and I have yet to have a failed reading. The safe has plenty of room. I keep a Springfield XD subcompact and Sig P226 along with 4 boxes of ammo and extra magazines and there is still room to spare. Yet the safe is still small enough to keep in a concealed location. It is very sturdy with a great lock and easy to mount to make it even more secure. The one complaint I saw over and over again about this safe was the "beep" it makes when openning it. Yes, I could do without it. However, compared to the complaints on other units being multiple failed readings and cheap materials used to make them, I was willing to accept the "beeps" for the piece of mind in knowing it would open when I most needed it to! Plus, I can't imagine a burglar being so curious as to go checkout what the beep might be.Another thing I noticed, and read in some of the reviews, is that the low battery indicator kicks on after about 5 days of putting in brand new batteries. This is kind of annoying. I have yet to change the batteries and it still opens every time, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I just plan on changing the batteries every 4-6 months.Overall, if you are looking for a well-constructed biometric safe with a very low failure rate, this is the one I would recommend. I got it for a great price, and other than some very minor issues, I think it is a great value.

Good quality safe
This safe is exactly what I needed/wanted. The biometric reader works perfectly. It is bigger than I thought and has plenty of room to store multiple items. Comes with bolts to attach the safe to a wall or shelf.

Mala compra
La caja en buenas condiciones, pero el sistema biometrico presentaba una descompostura al abrir el paquete, por lo realmente nunca funcionó paz lo q fue planeada

Great safe
Only just installed it, but already in love with it. With the beep off it's silent and it takes about 4-5 seconds to open from push of button, scan to deadbolts retract. The only con is that the bottom is not flat as there is a flange around the bottom to allow space for the door pivot. As I was bolting this to another safe I ended up cutting up some 3/4" plywood to fit under the bottom of the safe to fill in the gap so the safe would sit flat on the other safe and that the floor of the safe would not warp when I tightened the bolts.

Thief couldn't open it all the way
I had someone try to break into this safe with what I assume was a crowbar and they only got the thin, flat items (e.g. loose cash and small gold chains) that fit through the crack between the bottom of the door and the bottom of the safe when (I assume) they pried it open a little and tipped it sideways to get the contents out. It would have been fine if it was anchored to the floor or wall like it should have been because they wouldn't have been able to tip it. The biometrics work really well. I'm pleased with the purchase and it saved a lot of jewelry that I would have otherwise lost in the theft.

Good safe. The only issue that I have is ...
Good safe. The only issue that I have is it stopped recognize my fingerprints after skin on fingers become dry (car washing, garage cleaning). iPhone scanner can handle it, but Barska does not. Reset and it works fine, but after each weekend working around the house I have same issue. Work fine with wife's hands.
