Many reviewers use this fence post for purposes other than what it was designed for: electric fencing. I use it with a two-wire system to keep sheep and alpaca in a pasture (and keep our dogs out). The poles are easy to insert (and remove) from the ground- are pretty sturdy (but bendable). The goal is really not high sturdiness for an electric fence post. Several post clips allow adjustment of your wire/tape height. It's easy to detach the wire and move it to a different clip when necessary. I have occasionally used these poles to construct a temporary fence using plastic safety fencing. Not too difficult to build- but removing the fence from the clips can be tedious. In addition, our relatively small alpaca tested the fence to get to some vegetation and easily pushed it over, and broke some of the posts. Other than as a temporary solution, I can't generally recommend these for non-electric fence purposes.

I LOVE these step-in-posts for use in my garden. I grow dahlias each summer and they require staking to keep from falling over. I used to use a collection of random sticks, stakes, poles that I had collected in the garage over the years. Needless to say, my old stakes were a medley heights, colors, and materials and looked so sloppy. Now I've switched to these step-in-posts. They have a sturdy metal tip that I can easy sink into the soil with only my foot - no hammering required! Each stake has multiple catches, which I use to ensure my ties stay in place, without slipping down the plant, throughout the growing season. I'm loving the uniform black color and height size and at 48 inches tall, they be able to support the dahlias even when they reach their full season height.

I've used these posts for a few months now, and they have worked very well and are easy to use. The price is right if you need these quantities, far lower price than you can get them elsewhere. The multiple brackets fit either tape or wire, and they hold the wire well (it won't come out if simply pushed up). For cattle I used the 2nd from the top, but it would be quite easy to put two wires at different heights. I used a spacing of 6', which is quite secure. Right now I'm using them in a new pasture that is not totally fenced, making an enclosure 100x100x100' with the fourth side being existing fencing. At the two corners I put T-posts because the corner would be the place stress would be most likely to bring a post down. You could round the corners pretty easily without the T-posts. The posts are moderately strong, but I would not recommend them for hard, dry, frozen, or very rocky soil without either wetting or using something to make a pilot hole. I've used them only in wet pasture, and for that, I used a combination of the foot step and pushing down from the top. All 50 went in without a glitch. However, when I hit an occasional rock, I could feel flex in the foot step that gives me concern of some other reviewers, namely that the foot step could break off. I have not used them in very cold or freezing weather, and I would be concerned about the plastic becoming brittle. Finally, the best use of these posts is probably not for primary enclosures, which I'm using right now since the fence on the new pasture is not complete. I have just one feeder steer, and I open a gate to let him in morning and chase him out and close it at night. He leaped the fence one time in a fit of exuberance, hit the wire (actually polystrand synthetic with small stainless wires within it); good thing was that the posts flexed and did not break or come out of the ground, making flexibility so the wire did not break. The bad part was that he took off -- but chasing him back in was facilitated by simply laying down about 5 fenceposts and re-inserting them after he was inside. I've also watched herds of up to 12 deer grazing on the new grass and encountering the wire, getting shocked. Some would run away, others would leap and come down on the wire -- but no breakage or removed posts. This winter I will complete the primary fence on this pasture and use these posts simply to subdivide the pasture to rotate grazing. I'd not suggest these for primary enclosures for cattle -- but they're probably OK for sheep.

These are ok and got the job done for what I needed. These would only be good for a temporary fence. I don’t know that they would hold up very well longterm as they are on the thin side. But other than that- worked well for what I needed.

I began using electric net fencing about 2 months ago when I decided to get some goats and sheep as livestock to run on a property I have which was previously sitting idle. I bought the electric net fencing and, seeing these, decided to get some to reinforce corners, connection points (section to section) and just to have in general. These have been the saving grace for a couple of electric net fence products I bought with poor posts. I run goats and sheep which are confined (sometimes exclusively, sometimes in part) by electric net fencing and these have been indispensable. You can also purchase them locally if you have a Tractor Supply nearby (at least the 2 stores near me carry them) if you need them immediately. These have a slightly larger diameter spike than that of the electric net fencing I'm currently using and also the spikes are slightly longer (maybe 1 inch longer) than those supplied with the electric net fencing I'm currently using. I have installed and removed and re-installed some of these posts many times without a problem all while they have stood up better (I mean they stay standing vertical) than the posts supplied with the electric net fencing I'm currently using. I have a bunch of these left over from the current installation and don't regret having the at all. I keep a few with me on the side by side so, as I'm inspecting the electric net fencing, if I find a section is sagging or leaning, I can quickly take care of it.

I was confused about some of the reviews of this product. I decided to give them a try and they worked perfectly even after our 75lb Lab ran full bore into the fencing. .A few of the fence clips broke off but the posts took the abuse and survived.We have very rocky soil and had no trouble getting them into the ground.For the price a very good product.

These posts are surprisingly sturdy. We have used them for several months and moved them as we’ve moved our calves and none have broken yet.

These work great when combined with a frost fence. Very easy and cheap way to fence a yard for a new puppy we just got. I fenced a section about 80 feet by 80 feet for about $300, the alternative would have been a real fence for over 10 thousand dollars so yeah I am satisfied with my purchase.

Did not receive item listed which was Zareba Made in USA fence posts. Instead received a non-labeled, Made in China knock off. Cost prohibitive to return due to weight of parcel. They worked fine for our purposes but product not as advertised.

Bought these to temporarily fence in our backyard for our two dogs in a new house we just moved into, until we put up our fence. They are everything I hoped for and more. Easy to push in to the ground with the step and metal spike. The plastic roll of fencing has been up for over 2 weeks in high winds and has not moved at all. The stakes are exactly where they were inserted. Highly recommend!
