Paper Peek: Colors

Wow! My two year old LOVES this book. We just got it for him for his 2nd birthday. I'll be honest - I thought this was a completely different type of book but it's kind of like the "I Spy" books. For this book, each page is monochromatic and there are 5 objects you need to find (like a ladybug, guitar, bear, strawberry). The left page will indicate how many objects there are of each (Find 3 strawberries).When I first opened this I thought there's no way my 24 month old will like it. I've adapted it - he just has to find each item, not 3 or 4 or 5 of them. He brings this book to me to read with him multiple times a day and he gets SO excited when he finds the item. The pure joy in his eyes is priceless. The book has also helped him learn some new words like guitar and flamingo! So, so, so fun.

This sturdy board book combines different activities that will interest a range of ages. The first picture focuses on a simple shape and one color. The following page is a "can you find...." page where preschool children can work on counting and observational skills to find hidden objects. The objects are not difficult to find, but would be enjoyable for a younger child who is learning to count. The artwork is interesting as are the cut out shapes. Purple is missing, some of the color wasn't as bright as I prefer, and the white leans more to grey; however, overall I find it a visually interesting book that you could read to multiple ages of younger children.

PAPER PEEK COLORS is a sturdy board book that explores not only colors, but counting as well. Each image focus first on one color and then the next page ask the reader to find different objects (increasing in number) hidden in the image. Green, red, white, black, yellow, brown, pink, orange, and blue are the colors in the book. Personally, the two things I like best about this book are how sturdy the book is and the second page of each color which has the hidden object list to find.
