Windows 8.1 Handbook: Return of the Start Button (Quick Guides) Paperback – October 8, 2013

This is in my opinion a MUST HAVE BOOK for Windows 8.1 users and below I will give you reasons that you may want to highly consider this book (and I believe that this book will serve you well and get you up and running fast in Windows 8.1):1) This is a QUICK GUIDE Book that has just what is needed to get going in Windows 8.1 quickly!2) It is well illustrated and it has STEP BY STEP information on how to use the new features found in Windows 8.1.3) This is a very easy to understand book (even for the Windows beginner). And it has excellent and helpful information that even a seasoned Windows user will benefit from!4) THE BEST PART OF THIS BOOK - this section is called: For Diehard Desktop Fans. So many of us (including myself) prefer to use the Desktop that looks like our old friend the Windows 7 desktop. Well good news as this is now possible in Windows 8.1 as the book will show you how to do this so each time you boot your computer, it starts off in the Desktop instead of the Start Screen! This is shown in illustrations and a menu so it just takes a moment to be happily in the Desktop mode when you boot your computer!This section alone sold me on the book, however, every section in this book is helpful.5) Second best part of the book - The Taskbar Section, there you will see in illustrated form how to better understand the Taskbar.6) Why I bought this book: For me, I was looking for a QUICK GUIDE, an easy to follow and not too long of a book and one that gets to just the things about Windows I need to know to get up and running FAST. This book does all of that as it has useful information that I was looking for.Highly recommend this book because this book has exceeded my Windows 8.1 information requirements (I am picky about computer books). So if you are a beginner, you will love this book, if you are a more advanced Windows user but need just the 8.1 helpful info, this book will benefit you very much as well.

I would have rated it lower but I was afraid others would simply think I forgot to rate it. The book simply extols the virtues of Win 8.1. There are none! "Soft in an attempt to make a complex thing like a an OS simple went too far. A book that I bougth for answers turned up with none. I'm glad it was a Kindle edition, at least I didn't pay the postage!

My guess is the author just changed the title. There seems to be NO information about the updates and differences between Windows 8.0 and 8.1. That makes it pretty useless as a reference for 8.1.

Small book, simple instructions, clear and basic. Doesn't exactly help you to understand anything. But it's a nice quick guide to get you up and moving with windows 8.1

After installing Win 8.1 and spending 5 hours playing around, I didn't really find the need for....still quite handy for providing guidance on those obscure functions.

This book was not what I was expecting. Windows 8 for Senior Dummies has been more helpful. I needed something simpler for everyday use.

Had very little "new" info that I haven't already read, most on microsoft's website. Looks like it has been culled from blogs.

I liked this book since it is easy to understand and covers subjects a bit more technical. I liked it very much.

A useful book but surely a helpful book like this should come with the computer, heaven knows they cost enough. Windows 8.1 drives me back to my laptop which is Windows 7.

Being new to windows 8.1 ( I went from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1) so I found this a rather useful book and easy to use

I have to say I was most disappointed with this book in my view it was written for win 8 then some odd's n end's added !!

I am afraid it did not help a great deal with information required. I had not realised that it would not be comprehensive.
