The story has been edited, but still worth ur attention!
The story has been edited. Not Enid Blyton's actual work. Quite a lot of names and quite a lot of lines have been changed. Although the story still remains worth reading, the reality of the story has been stolen. But if you're a person who can adjust such changes and only wants a good book to read, it's ok.

My soon to be 6 year loves this book and wants to read it all the time. The book has few illustrations but the stories are mystical and engaging enough for younger kids to stay hooked.

Beautiful comic
The illustrations are beautiful and the paper quality is also very good. All in all, a very good comic book to introduce Bible characters to our kids. We love it!

Good book collection
Great book for kids. But the pages are not glued properly, and easily fall off.

AMERICAN EDITION - NOT The original Version - Heavily Edited Modern Edition - Shame
Please note that this is the new American EDITED modernised version of this fabulous old story. The names of the characters have been changed and many of the funny bits have been edited out. What's happening to the world!!?? I was shocked at how much has been RE-WRITTEN!!?It's a real shame so much of the actual magic has been destroyed by politically correct editing. And the illustrations are very lame.Nothing like the original Enid Blyton version I knew and loved. How Queer said Fanny - lol

Great books
Reading these to my 3 year old and she is really getting in to them and as someone who read them as a child i am enjoying them again too.Yes some of the writing does seem old fashioned or out of date but they still capture a childs imagination and encourage it. We now a faraway tree in our town according to my child and she loves drawing pictures of Joe, Beth and Frannie. At bedtime she gets the book and likes to hear of the adventures with Moonface, Silky and Saucepan Man and we have to read at least a chapter.Would definetely recommend. Our family have all read them from my dad at school in the 50s to me in the 70s my sister in the 80s my neice in the 00s and now my daughter at 3. I am sure she will enjoy reading them herself when she is older.

Don't bother with this book, but the original version
This has been so heavily abridged it's unreal, whole chapters have been removed and characters names have been changed in the name of political correctness. The original series is fantastic- I can still conjur up images of Moonface, Silky and the Saucepan Man as I believe them to look, and it ain't how they appear in this book! Not impressed at all, it's an insult to Enid's memory

Remains a great story for children
Rereading this set of magical tales was a pleasant return to childhood. Although the name changes grated on me and some of the language also sounded as though it had been changed - 'Wow', would that be 1950s language? - the stories are a pleasant mix of excitement, danger, children winning against unpleasant adults and sheer magic and good times. There is enough fun to counteract the possible rebellion from modern readers against the moral imperatives, but the latter are not really onerous and might assist a parent in need. For example, iIf these children do some housework, why not you? On the other hand, what can we offer to measure up against a magic faraway tree and enchanted wood? Perhaps only a rereading for children who have enjoyed the stories the first time. Unlike other of Byton's works there is little apparent racism and even the sexism is muted. Often the girls are depicted as having good ideas that are succesfully executed by all the children. Jo, the boy, is clearly older so perhaps his taking charge is not based on gendr alone. At least the innovative reader to young children can mould the stories to fit into a modern landscape.

Wonderful for free readers!
Bought this for my 6 year old who asked for it! Was shocked it is a very thick book with 3 stories inside. He loves it and has no problem with reading and comprehension. Pictures and Chapters make this a lovely bedtime story book for free readers... Great buy and wonderful whimsical stories 5 stars
