Three Cheers for Amazon!
I purchased the Venstar T7850 Colortouch in November for use in my vacation home. After installing it I found the thermostat had a problem and did not communicate with their cell phone app.I contacted Venstar support and explained the problem and even included pictures from the thermostat, but they never replied to my email. As a last resort I contacted Amazon Support. They immediately replied telling me to return the thermostat to them for testing. Within a week I got a reply that a replacement was being shipped. The replacement thermostat worked perfectly as advertised. It's really handy to check the temperature of a home 200 miles away and know the furnace is working. Last week I used the app to turn the temperature up (the vacation home is in Northern Michigan) so it was warm and comfy when I arrived.A big THANK YOU to AMAZON for their fast and helpful support!

Great Features. Poor Quality
Recently I had two of these thermostats installed by my AC company One works fine. The other lost wifi after one day. I ordered this one and I snapped it into place. It had no WiFi. Now a replacement is coming in. I will follow up. Also, the manufacturer Venstar does not have a contact phone number. All is done through email. Very poor customer service.

Love it
This works fantastic for my needs. I have it linked with Alexa and to my smart phone via WiFi which is built in. Not external card needed (only for pics). I can use it remotely and/or the touchscreen. I’ve had one for many years, way before Alexa and have loved it. Just had the older model. I love how it was the same size and clipped right onto the old base.

This is an excellent wifi thermostat I love the touch screen full keyboard ...
This is an excellent wifi thermostat I love the touch screen full keyboard and full screen instructions. Much easier to program than my previous Nest plus shows both the room temp and the cooling and heating set point. I also love being able to show pictures of my kids and send messages directly to my wife such as "running a little late tonight. I have only 4 wires but installed a extra wire devise and it works great.

A 4 out of 5 Thermostat with 1 out of 5 Tech Support. Correction..0 zero for tech support
Bought the VT7850 in 2015. It runs the heat pump well and the pic display is kinda cool. The IOS app is a bit simplictic but works well. I would give it at least a 4.5 but for the advertised Dual Fuel compatable. It navaigates the sensors and control the Dual Fuel functions, but it doesn't report any Aux fuel activity. So if it is too cold for your heat pump, the app and Skyport will tell you there was no energy usage during that time. I have had several emails with Venstar support and they have given me the run around for two years. First there was to be a new firmware, but that never came to be, then I was told that because of compatabily, they were going to send me a test unit with the new firmware. That never showed up ether. This was the main reason I went with this thermostat. It is false advertising as far as I'm concerned.

Good Product for the Money
I got this thermostat at a reduced price and I live it. I saw one in my dentist office and thought I’d give it a try. Great connectivity and remote access. Has worked well since installation and I recommend it to anyone who has minimal knowledge

So far I am very happy. A well thought-out device and system.
Got this to replace my old but trusty Honeywell TH8320U which lacks any connectivity capabilities and installed it a day ago. After much research this seems a close match to the old unit with all the capabilities my system requires (most of the bigger name units actually did not permit the kind of technical settings I needed). Installation for my 2 heat/1cool heat pump was pretty easy. Documents are pretty good and support is as well. Desktop app worked well to setup initial configuration that transfers using SD card. You do need to know a fair amount of technical information to get this just right. I had none but did a bunch of reading in manuals for both old and new units plus asked tech support questions on both before proceeding. Of course, my heat pump is more complex than many other furnaces. Just take your time. I did not manage to get automatic wifi setup so did manual, which I actually prefer so I can give the thing a static IP address on the local network. I am NOT connecting it to the internet/Skyport and I would never allow a utility to diddle my settings. Thankfully this all can be turned off (most of the bigger name units do not permit this). I have written scripts to use the simply local network API and can control this from my phone, etc. Not that hard but I am a programmer. I think this is a good bet. Those with simpler systems should be able to get away with the lower model while those with more complex may need the T7900.
