Beginning Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Programming

Quite a thorough book
I learnt many different programming aspects in the latest version of SQL Server from the book and I like it. I intended to give a five star, but I only give four because:1. There are two online appendices on the contents page, but the book does not include the two appendices. I have checked Wrox's online site for the book, but they are not there, either. I have posted a question on the P2P forum in the Wrox's site regarding this, but I have not yet heard any response.2. In some chapters, some SQL statements shown on the book are missing from the code downloaded from Wrox's site. Quite frustrating that I had to type out all the SQL statements myself.Added on 21 October, 2012:Regarding 1: five months have passed since I have posted the question of the online appendices on the P2P forum in the Wrox's site and there is still no answer. The writers of the book and the publisher are very UNPROFESSIONAL. Changed from four stars to three.

Beginning Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Programming Review
Well, at least the code in this book works, and, it's easy to understand. You can learn from this book and it does what is says. These Beginning series by Wrox Press are simply the best. I have learned very much through these books.

The book is a little hard
It is loaded with information and worth the price. I am simply used to a different authors perspective since I 'came up through' Oracle SQL. Too much info in some areas, not enough in others, for me at least. But that will be only my point of view.

Not a beginner's book...
The author is clearly an expert. However I find myself wondering 'what's the point' fer too often. My biggest peeve is the author introduces a concept, shows you the code, then explains the error! While I can see why this could be good (what I'll probably do) I'd prefer to see proper syntax first, seeing that's what I'll likely remember.

Amazon you are great if you dont increae prices! ;-)
I'm very happy with Amazon if they don't increase prices. I received my book in a very good condition and on time. Had a quick look and the book seems to be a good book too. I hope Amazon will stay the way it is or get even better.Thank you!

Highly recommend
Very easy to read and follow. I bought it with no real working knowledge of MS SQL, just My SQL and Oracle, and this book taught me all the basics and helped me pass my final exam.

Passed this Class, this was a harder book for me to implement functionally.
I can't explain why, after reading so many I just can't say its a five star educational and not just company marketable.

Great writing.
I really enjoy the writing style for this book, it is one of the easiest to read technical books I have found.

Very decent book.
This is one of the best SQL Server books I've got. As a reference manual, it's up there with the very best. The code examples all worked just fine. My only gripe was the informations on cubes and rollups. The examples worked but there was too much data participating in the result. To me, that sort of made it a little too long-winded to see what was going on "under the hood" so to speak. Apart from that there's not much I'd want to improve in this book. It's got a lot in it and 95% is pitched at the right level and easy to read.

All fundamentals in one place
Excellent reference for SQL Server. I've been a .Net developer for few years and wanted to be up-to-date with latest SQL Server. This book covers the fundamentals from zero to the point when you can build a well organized database on your own. Lots of SQL features are not covered because author states that their advanced or out of scope.Indeed, SQL Server has so many features, that it's hard to place everything in one book and place "beginning" in the title.I recommend this book to those who don't know anything about databases or know little or (just like me) were working with previous releases and want to have a solid reference of what can be done in SQL Server 2012.

Good foundation in SQL Server 2012
Covers most aspects of SQL Server but never gets too advanced. Leaves you with an understanding of most of the concepts surrounding SQL Server 2012. I liked the writing style too.

Not better, good.
Quite good.I am not satisfied with this book. If, you beginner then you can choose Beginning Microsoft SQL Server 2008.Beginning Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is the best in class, definitely go for it.Some tropics are missing like Mathematical Functions. (ie- Sin(); Cos(); Round(); Floor(); ect)
