I used the book on Chinese New Year to help my KR students have some knowledge about Chinese culture and the New Years Celebration. The photograph showed real children as they prepared and celebrated Chinese New Year. The text was simple yet provided enough information for these youngstudents.

Nice Introduction for Young Children
Used as a resource for the Chinese New Year celebration at my son's pre-k class. It was useful, age appropriate, a good introduction to the topic. I did end-up combined using several books as none had all the things I wanted to cover.

Good information
This book has great photographs and lots of information overall about the Chinese New Year. If you are looking for a non-fiction book about the Chinese New Year, this would work well.

Well-written
Every major aspect of the holiday is clearly and concisely illustrated. However, one little thing I have a problem with is that the photos are very old-fashioned, almost like 20 years ago. So, with that in mind, I gave it 4 stars.

Nice non-fiction early reader
This is a very nice bite-size non-fiction early reader. Great motivation for those new readers with an interest in world culture. Or just a good way to slip a little social studies instruction into your reading practice. Basic format - 32 pages with large color illustrations and single paragraphs of text on opposing pages. Photo glossary reviewing words covered.Checked out of our friendly neighborhood public library.Go libraries!
