I don't believe the onset of dslr's had anything to do with the popularity of the big Mamiyas. They made images whose resolution was unimaginable to a dslr user. Of course, they weighed a TON, and nobody had hands that big. You're talking about the equivalent of a 250 megapixel image, to folks who don't give a damn.
