Acadia National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 212)

One side is great for road navigation and driving around Mount Desert Island and exploring the park. The major roads that connect the cities on the island together are listed.The other side is the topo map that you'd expect from Trails Illustrated. It includes a table of trails, mileages, grid locations, and difficulty ratings (excerpt pictured). The table of trails with mileage & difficulty isn't exhaustive, but is more than adequate for planning a trip. ALL trails are marked on the map. All of the names of the trails match the tail signs and markers in the park (NPS has restored the trail names to their historical names in the last few years so some maps are inacurate).We walked less than 20 miles in the week were were visiting, but regardless of the amount of exploring you do this is a great tool.

no wondering which trail to take, it is will marked. have used these maps in over 30 national parks. however check at visitor center, and show the trail to ranger. that way you know if it is open, or closed for a reason. good walking and seeing nature up close.

These are great maps for planning hikes and trips to national parks. I buy one for every park.

Acadia National Park is very pretty and well served by free shuttle buses (free once you've paid the park entrance fee of a few dollars). It's all pretty easy walking, even the precipice trail - we're in our sixties by the way. The map is not as good as an Ordnance Survey map but is pretty good and served us well - it's durable, waterproof, reasonably clear and worth the money even for a stay of only a few days.
