Best Internet Radio I Have Ever Used!
Over the years I have used several brands of internet radios, including Logitech, Grace and Sangean. I am sorry to say that I recently had to literally throw away two Sangean radios because they would constantly and randomly drop the internet numerous times, they could not reconnect themselves to the internet, and they would randomly freeze and would not reset. I just could not even see giving these away to anyone else because they were so bad. Grace radios are actually very good, and I guess Logitech is out of the market for radios. In any case, being burned by Sangean, I did not want to spend big bucks on the next radio. I was a quite hesitant to pay about $80 for this internet radio....how could it possibly be any good? However, from my brief use, this Ocean radio is hands down the best internet radio I have ever used. It is extremely easy to set up, much easier to program versus other radios, I have experienced no dropped signals, it connects easily to my internet, it has bluetooth, the SkyTune is amazing, especially with the ability to literally program the radio from your desktop or iPhone, it has a built in rechargeable battery and the overall layout and menus are very intuitive. Overall while small (which is what I wanted, but they also carry larger radios....check out their website), it packs an impressive punch....for $80??!!!!As I have had it only briefly, I cannot comment on it's long term functionality, but my initial impression is that I am amazed. My only minor criticism is that the speaker is not the greatest, but in my experience none of the internet radios have great speakers. In my opinion, for any radio, you really want to hook up the output to a good external speaker anyway. However, since this unit is portable with the internal battery, the built in speaker is totally adequate if you need to carry it around,Highly Recommended!

Great For The Price
I bought this little internet radio for my shop where I was having trouble getting good radio reception on a consistent basis. I had WiFi already installed so when I learned about using the internet for my radio service I went looking for a device that would work specifically for this. I had been using my laptop and iPad which worked great but I was always having to carry them back and forth to the shop. It also tied them up for use on other things. When I was told about this little unit I had my doubts because it was so cheap. However for sixty bucks I figured it was worth a try. It works great! The interface is a bit clunky to get the WiFi password in place but once you do it is easy to work with. I had to remember how much I paid for the unit and also had to remember to be patient with it because of this. It is a bit of a learning curve right at first. But once I got everything on the unit it works really well. I use the "Line Out" jack to run the source into my sound system in the shop. It also has a pretty good speaker on its own if you don't have a system to hook it up to. I have recommended this to other folks and will again. For a cheap internet radio it is a great choice I think. My advice on the interface is to go watch a video or two on the device itself. That helped me more than anything.

HOW IT GOT FIXED -- Non-operating radio brought back to life and works fine now!
This radio gets internet stations with crystal clear sound. Here is how we got it FIXED when it went INOPERABLE!SYMPTOMS: On day 41 (after the return period had expired) the radio suddenly "locked up" in some sort of "logic jam" mode and would not work or respond to any buttons. In fact, the buttons and knobs appeared to have their normal functions scrambled and confused with each other.FIRST RESPONSE: We wrote to the seller, who asked us if we were using the correct power supply and if we could try a "hard reset" by pushing the "power" and "home" buttons simultaneously. As we had already explained that didn't work because the buttons were not acting as their normal functions!SOLUTION: A retired engineer looked at the radio and said, "This firmware is evidently written so that the button-function map is vulnerable to getting corrupted from operating data, such as a buffer overrun. In my opinion it should not have been written that way. However, I was able to use trial-and-error to press every possible combination of buttons until I accidentally found where the 'hard-reset' had gone. Following several 'hard resets,' I was able to get the radio back to its normal state and it is now operating properly."RECOMMENDATION: This is a delightful little radio when it works. 1) Buy the 3-year Amazon warranty! 2) Make friends with a retired engineer!SUMMARY: 4 STARS (ONE STAR SUBTRACTED FOR GLITCHY FIRMWARE)--------------------(from an earlier review)----------------------I am leaving the original review down below so you can see how we LOVED this radio until it totally failed on DAY 41!This radio worked GREAT and I was so glad we ignored the negative reviews warning that it could go "dead" all by itself without warning.... this will be a lesson learned!Today, on Day 41, the radio suddenly stopped working and went into some sort of "logic jam" mode... The display says the WI-FI signal is strong, the display says the battery is fully charged, the display has the correct time... but the display says "SLEEP NOW" and no commands from any button, no matter how long pressed, or input from any knob, have any effect! The radio is totally locked-up and will not respond to anything....and it had sat on a table in the living room playing perfectly for 41 days including this morning! We went through the Amazon "chat" function and got referred to the "ask a question" page to the seller... it says to "wait a couple of days" for their response.I will update this review if the seller provides an acceptable solution. We truly loved this little radio until it became a brick, all by itself! This is very disappointing for a device that costs over $90 and has a very finite function.Ask yourself -- what is your time worth to troubleshoot and correspond and try to get a problem like this resolved? Read the other reviews reporting very similar problems! And wish us luck!-------------------------(ORIGINAL REVIEW WAS 5 STARS):PROS:--Very compact and attractive (about half the size one would expect)--Good stable wi-fi internet connection and perfect digital accuracy of sound data--"SEARCH" function got four hard-to-find stations on the first try: 1) Beautiful Instrumentals with no commercials, 2) WTPB-LP commercial-free easy listening; 3) Seeburg1000 continuous background music! 4) Instrumentals Forever (commercial free)CONS: (and an easy improvement; see below)--Even though the sound is crystal clear and accurate, and bass is "present," we wanted the bass a bit stronger.THE FIX: We went into the menu to the "Advanced" graphic equalizer, and set it as follows: LOWEST BASS: +12 dB; HIGHEST TREBLE: neutral; ALL MID BANDS: -3 dB.BONUS: We also tested a "stereo-mini to RCA-plugs" cable to feed the audio into a stereo amplifier and full size speakers. As expected, the stereo separation was perfect, the sound crystal-clear, and with the big system's dual 15-inch woofers, there was all the bass "thump" anyone would ever want.SUMMARY: We wanted to free up our other devices by using a dedicated appliance for background music. This device fit that purpose perfectly, with the added ability to feed a full-size stereo system if ever desired.

Useles. Dropping the connections and buffering
I have been using this radio for two weeks, and it is really useless due to the main drawback: it constantly drops the connection to any radio station and reconnects - you listen to any radio station (local or international, with any bit rate) from thirty seconds to sometimes 5 minutes, than it drops the connection, in 5 to 10 seconds reconnects, and later everything repeats itself, as in a loop.It is very irritating. It s connected in my house to a high quality WiFi network. The other devices connected to the same network (4K TV sets with Netflix and YouTube) operate without any interruptions.
