Effective Delegation of Authority: A (Really) Short Book for New Managers About How to Delegate Work Using a Simple Delegation Process

A Common Sense Approach to Delegation
Finally, someone has realized busy leaders don't have time to read fifty 300-page books a year to glean the information they need to develop their team. Time is our most valuable asset, and I, personally, don't want to waste mine reading a flowery exercise in beating around the bush. Osman gets right to the point and gives you more information in 20 minutes than other authors deliver in a four-hour read.

A very concise book but full of management wisdom
It takes me about 45min to read the book, maybe with 3 - 5 minutes distraction. A time well invested.I heard about the book when I listened to a podcast of Coaching for Leaders, Effective Delegation of Authority, episode 413 with Hassan Osman, the author of the book. I was so inspired by the podcast that I immediately rushed to Amazon to buy the Kindle version of the book.I love the structure of the book: three sections (before delegation, during delegation and after delegation). Each section is divided in specific steps, each step in tips to use and each tip with explanatory examples. Straightforward and to the point. The book is meant to "new managers". I am an experienced senior manager. I found it extremely useful. In my opinion, Hassan should used remove "new managers" from the books title and simply use:"Effective Delegation of Authority: A (Really) Short Book for Managers About How to Delegate Work Using a Simple Delegation Process".The rating 5 stars is fully deserved for this really excellent book.

Solid foundation
This book provides a basic fundamental framework for delegation. The steps when followed lead to success. Too often, the written step is skipped and leads to failure.

Amazing what you can get for just few dollars
A really short book that you can read within an hour, and another great set of pieces of advice from Hassan. There are literally no extra words - only straight to the point things you should follow step by step in order to have positive and motivated employees around you! And nowadays, that is super important. A lot of managers might think they are good with communicating with people, but there is always something that you can improve - you will find it in this book. Great work Hassan, can't wait for your next piece of mastery.

Easy to read, easy to follow, and effective
Hassan Osman's Effective Delegation of Authority is an extremely helpful tool in learning how to assign tasks to your subordinates. They break it down in simple language and make it really easy to follow by eliminating buzzwords and jargon and explaining things as a real human being, rather than writing like a management drone. If you're looking for a quick read on the topic of delegating, this is definitely were I would point you.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Really short and really effective
The book really does simplify the process without losing any effectiveness. It also does a great job of clarifying intent and answering the "why" question.

Blog post as a book
The book really just is a mediocre blog post. It's so general that it's not usable, plus I'd maintain that it leaves out important parts.

Short, succinct, practical, works
It is short, it is cheap-ish, but priceless advice. I remember the content of this whereas other top rated 5 star books get lost in standard management course guff. This has the what, why and how, follows the tried and tested, tell em what you're going to say, say it, and tell em what you said, without once talking down or getting lost in the trainers pet stories that pepper so many management books.
