It was on my first trip into rural eastern North Carolina that I was introduced to the wonder of Carolina Treet. In fact, it was probably the first eastern-style barbecue sauce I ever tasted. And it was the start of an enduring love.A year or two later I moved to NC and made sure to keep some of this wonderful concoction on hand at all times.We've left the promised land of BBQ, and we can't just head out to the Harris Teeter to stock up these days. But thanks to the wonder of Amazon.com, we can get our fix of lovely Carolina Treet, even here in the land of desolation.Carolina Treet is a unique sauce: it's almost (but not quite) a pig-picking sauce that you dribble over pulled pig on cheap white bread. I say "not quite" because it's not quite so thin as a pig picking sauce: it's just slightly thickened.But the rate is perfect: tangy, spicy, a little zip of pepper, sour from vinegar, and no sugar or tomato to cover up the smoky deliciousness of the pig.And it's worth noting that we make a very good sweet sauce by adding tomato paste and honey to Carolina Treet. It works great on chicken, or even ribs.This is sauce is a thing of beauty. I highly recommend it.

Great taste
I was introduced to this sauce by a dear friend who is from the Carolinas. The taste of this sauce on grilled chicken is just YUM. can't find it in stores in GA, have found sauces that are supposed to be like it but refuse to even risk it. So, found on Amazon and I order a bottle for summer time grilling. Marinade my chicken in it overnight or longer and omgggg....try it yall! Never cooked with it outside of grilling.

One bottles never enough! perfectly balanced -good stuff!
If you know Carolina Treet, you already love it! If you are considering it for the first time.. well, you are in for a treat! It's a vinegar based bbq sauce best for chicken (but also good on other meats) pour some in a cup and baste every 5-7 minutes with each flip! Easy to use a whole bottle, but it cost so much! Used to be just a few dollars in the grocery store, but they don't carry it this side of the Mississippi, thank goodness Amazon brings it to my door!

We used this product all the time, and now since it is unavailable in the Midwest. It was a blessing to find out we could order this on Amazon.

Horrible
Trash! They sent me a bottle with “no sugar” and this tastes horrible! I’m so disappointed after waiting to try this for the first time.

Third time re ordering = a good thing!
I have been on the lookout for some good “Eastern Carolina sauce.”- after trying (unsuccessfully) others like Scott’s and Lilis, I came across Carolina Treet...WOW! This sauce is fantastic! I have re ordered and will continue to.- like another review mentioned, ‘don’t let the color fool you’(Consistency isn’t as watery as typical Eastern Carolina, but definitely not thick.)It makes pouring manageable, as this stuff is like gold around my house. :)
