works as advertised
I read several reviews that said the light didn't work, or wouldn't turn off. I found it works just fine. I have it in a 2 bulb lamp, the other bulb is a normal bulb. we let it charge for the 10 + hours as recommended . If we turn the switch off, the bulbs goes out like a normal lightbulb . When our power went out the other night, the bulb came on. It is not as bright as if the power was on , but it was enough light so that I was comfortable and not feeling like I was sitting in the dark. It is supposed to give light for 5 hours though I was only needing it for 3 hours. The one thing I have noticed is that when the light is turned off, there is a lag time for the bulb to turn off, but less than a minute. Perhaps others have a lag time and therefore gave up and assumed it would not turn off. I'm pleased with it and if I want meow, I would buy this bulb again.

Very useful, classy, comfortable little lightbulb
I really like this light a lot. At 2700 Kelvin, it has a better color temperature than many other emergency battery backup lightbulbs. And the light during battery power seems to be the same color temp. And it has an innovation that one doesn't see in other makes and models of emergency lightbulbs. Namely, it has an onboard switch that allows the user to keep the light on by itself, no other attachment needed. This, together with the 2700K color temp is worth the price of the bulb. In the initial phases of a grid-permanently-down situation, presumably, this would a very helpful light. It consumes 8 watts, so presumably the battery may be able to provide power longer than if it was a 12 watt or 15 watt bulb. And it may possibly run cooler as well. But I wish there was a 15 watt model. That would be perfect.I have to say, although the one I bought (I bought this. There wasn't any promotion or "testing" nonsense and I'm not getting anything for this review) was made in China, it "feels" very American to me, in the best sense of the term. I think if you try it, you'll understand what I mean.

Still Undecided
Others have mentioned some of the deficiencies of these bulbs but they aren't useless. They are not for use in lamps. I have them in my bathroom where I have three open bulb connections. Even plugged in, if the light switch isn't on they will not charge and will, in fact, lose whatever charge they have. There is an on/off switch on the bulb which I haven't figured out. It doesn't turn the bulb off. I did have a power outage and they did have enough juice to give light in the bathroom throughout the outage. What I do like about them is the light they supply is nice. Not to bright and not too white. In the evening, I leave the lights on so they charge then turn the bathroom light off and they serve as a night light through the night. They would be a great product if they stored their charge and maybe they do and I haven't figured that out yet.

Works well for it does
I bought this product as a prep for power outages. Once charged for 10 hours, this bulb does operate like a normal light bulb, but I found that it only works in lamps and not hard-wired light fixtures. If I tried to use them in chandeliers, the bulb will stay on even when the light fixture is turned off. You can still use the bulbs in an easily accessible chandelier or other hard-wired light fixture during a power outage by swapping out your normal bulb for this bulb. During a power outage, note that you will have to switch this bulb on and off by the button that IS ON THE LIGHT and not by your wall on/off switch. Because of that, I do NOT recommend using the bulb in lights that are not easily accessible. The lights from the bulbs when using them in battery mode is dimmer than when they are in a light that is plugged into an outlet. If you keep your expectations within reason, this is a great product!

I Love This Light
Excellent product! Good light in normal use and is nice and bright when on battery. Our electricity goes out a lot in the winter and since we are out in the sticks it takes a long time to get power back on. I saw this on a YouTube post and had to order it immediately. I only ordered one so I could make sure it worked for me and it does! I tried it by just unplugging the lamp and that didn't work so I turned off the electricity to the house and it worked great. Here's hoping I never need it!

Light seems to stay off if it's on a circuit with other LED+ Backup Battery Light Bulbs
I've seen a few reviews here about how the light comes on after they turn off the power switch. In my case, I had the same thing happen if the light was on a circuit controlling other lights. For example, I have a switch that controls three lights that hang over the mirror in my bathroom. I noticed that the light would turn on and start flickering (or sometimes just stay on) if there were other non LED+ Backup Battery lights connected. If I unscrew the other bulbs with the exception of the LED+ Backup Battery light, it stays off. One other observation I made is that if the GE LED+ is further away from the non-LED+ light (If I only use 2 bulbs rather than 3 and keep them far apart), this seems to be enough to prevent the light from turning on.Overall, the light is a nice concept but it doesn't quite work as seamlessly as GE would have you believe. I could just buy a bunch of these for each circuit and that would probably fix the issue but they cost quite a bit more than a regular LED so I would recommend these to maybe be used in either areas where there is just one bulb controlled by a switch or use them in a lamp. If you have an area you absolutely need an automatic backup light for and have a lot of bulbs on that circuit, you'll probably be spending a lot of money.Don't take my word for it though and just buy a couple of lights first to see what I'm talking about. I noticed that putting any other kind of bulb with the LED+ would cause it to turn on for no reason. Test these few out first before finding you have to buy more of these light bulbs.
