Perfect for Pinning
My tarantula molted and this set was perfect for the project I had in mind. The pins don't stick to the specimen and don't snag on the styrofoam. They also don't bend very easily under force. Very good quality for the price and the set comes with SO MANY pins in a size per vial. I don't think I used all the pins in one size for this project. Keeping the sizes separate might be difficult but it may be easier if they were size to color coded. But I digress. Very good pins.

Definitely worth the price!
Excellent pins! I have pinned 1,000’s of insects with these pins with no issues. I tried them because they are so much cheaper than professional stainless steel insect pins I normally buy. I was skeptical the stainless steel would hold up. I tested them by putting the pins in various concentrations of salt water and acetic acid for several months alongside professional stainless steel pins. They did just as well as the professional ones I normally used. Going on 6 months in the solutions and no rusting. I also tried regular steel pins with enamel coating, they of course quickly rusted. The main differences I saw between these and professional stainless steel pins are: they are slightly longer, more polished, the nylon head varies in size more, they are sharper and the sizes (1,2,3,4, etc) are about one off from ones serious collectors normally buy. So if you normally buy Bioquip size 2 pins you will need size 3 in these pins to equal the same diameter, if you normally buy bioquip size 1 you’ll want to but 2’s and so on. I use Cornell drawers and the pins fit fine even with the few extra mm in length. My only complaint is they only sell size 2 pins 500 at a time. I don’t want the super thin pins that come a set with multiple sizes. I pin mostly beetles, so I would love sizes 3 and 4 to be sold 500 at a time as well. If the people who sell these read this, PLEASE SELL SIZE 3 and 4 500 at a time. I will buy more!

Good, but too long for specimen box
Pins are fine but are too long for the box they are recommended to use with, can’t shut the lid

A must for middle school insect collection projects
If your child has to do an insect collection for school you need these pins. There are easily enough to split with another kid or two. The multiple sizes were key to using for different sized bugs (gross but true!). We had enough left over that I am saving for my daughter that will have to do the same project in a few years.
