Works great to contain water
I had a specific issue with leakage around the chimney in my basement when there was a heavy rainstorm. A final fix is coming for this (need a new liner and cap) but in the meantime, I needed something to contain the water/absorb the water around the chimney. These are great! I put them in a ring around the chimney base, and there have been several instances with them filling up with leaking water, with nothing escaping beyond the bags. (I had already cleaned up water four times before I bought/installed these.) When I opened the box from Amazon, I was surprised how flat they were -- they don't feel like there's any filling in them, and it was a guess as to how well I distributed the filling per the instructions. But, they've been in place for over a month, and they don't smell and continue to work to absorb the water. IWe are having a lot of heavy rainstorms this summer.) BTW, I ended up buying two boxes because of a few reviews stating that some were damaged, but all six of mine arrived in tact. For my water issue, these were perfect.

Works Pretty Well.
Definitely kept water at bay, but not great to dispose of.

Activated Burlap Barriers Work
Reusable burlap encased barriers begin absorbing water upon contact. Burlap is generally made from the Jute plant fibers. It is naturally biodegradable and we have now used this set for three separate flood events without any noticeable breakdown of the fibers or absorption capacity. The barriers must be dried out fully in the sun between events. Images above show partially swollen barriers post flood drying out . The barriers arrive shrink wrapped, 100% dry and ready to deploy as needed. Very easy to store. Mild burlap aroma distinct to burlap. With proper care: Please note! They are not indestructible, Jute breaks down with sun and rain. Dry them out completely between each event these barriers can last you multiple flood seasons . Drying tips: hang up on very sturdy metal railings , place in direct sun on clean concrete surfaces and turn, give it a shake every few hours. It will take up to a week to fully dry out . These barriers are not for everyone, they require patience and gentler handling. But I find using these in conjunction with reusable inflatable water bladder barriers a good mix.

Saved me
Took a chance on these. I knew it was gonna rain pretty hard soon and I knew my patio was gonna flood. I presoaked these and placed them in front of my sliding door. The inside of my place was completely dry and it flooded bad outside. Boutta buy more now.

THREE MONTHS NOW
I purchased these to help hold back rain water and for awhile, I felt they were just what I wanted and although their abilities to stop a small flow, they then absorbed lots of water and the gel inside has started to seep out and since there is really no way to "dry out" the product, I find I am going to have to discard them. It will be a little messy as the gel is running is lots of directions but at least I was able to use them for 3 months.

Useless
No, just no. While I waited FOREVER for my permit to be issued by the Village Hall, I needed a temporary workaround to deal with the flooding in my basement. I wanted to dam up the water to keep as much of it away from my personal property and this product failed miserably. I opted it for the more "nature-friendly" approach (really?) and when I took it out of the plastic bag, a lot of powder had somehow came out of it. It was annoying because a considerable amount spilled onto the first floor of my house and I thought nothing of it at the time so I simply vacuumed it up. Turns out that stuff was the absorption gel. When the flood finally took place, only half the bag absorbed the water and did not swell up as I expected to. Because so much of the powder had came out of natural bag that it did nothing to hold the water back. I couldn't return it because it was past the return window and even if I could return it, would I have to wait for it to dry up and mail it back? AVOID.

Soak up the water
I used these in my basement. They work great to catch and hold a small amount of water

Burlap outer material weak.
Worked well first time, but burlap outer material does not stand up to more uses.

variable lumpy silicone filling. Single use only - don’t bother. Water barriers are reusable and more effective.
