MakitaXOP02Z 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 5" / 6" Dual Action Random Orbit Polisher, Tool Only

In the past I would use a rotary buffer to polish my black truck and when I'd get done it would look excellent then a few months later I would have holograms all over the place. I know a lot of it has to do with technique and materials, but this little machine made it easy and perfect. I don't throw compound all over the place anymore, I can control the pad now so I can get close to trim and not get it on it. The smaller pad can get in a lot of spots and is super fast. I love having the forced rotary d/a option as the first heavy cut I used it with a lot of RPM, then I would turn it off and work the pads, compound, and RPM down. Holograms, swirl marks are all gone now. Batteries only last 30 minutes but SUPER nice not dragging a cord around. Right when one battery dies the next one is charged so it works out. Nothing was getting hot so it shouldn't hurt the batteries too much.

I really hated that this was so expensive, but being a LXT tool junkie, I decided to buy as my corded polisher quit and the cord really sucks when you are out on boats or larger items working. There weren't many reviews on this particular tool up so pretty much a leap of faith for the brand. I'm impressed so far! This definitely has more features than I could have ever wanted in a polisher, it's well designed as I would have expected, and can be used for auto's boats, marble counter tops, just about anything you can polish. Fairly light for the power it has and well balanced, speed and motion adjustability is the best I have seen. I would buy it again...the price is what it is because there are a LOT of features and quality in this tool that knock offs will never have.

Generally speaking Makita makes good products and I like Makita.This particular one is however an anamoly. It is a terrible excuse of a product that may be good to be used as-is but you cannot put on or change anything on it. For instance the backing plate it came attached to it was a 5.5 inch one. The box also came with a 6inchea one. Since the day I bought it I have not been able to change the backing plate because it is tightened so hard by Makita.If you call Makita tech support you get I’ll-informed and uneducated people telling you to rotate clockwise! I asked them that this would tighten it even more! Then they said “ no this is what is written here that I am looking at!” … and after five seconds they went oh no it would tighten it more what I was looking at was for installing! And I had been asking them about how to uninstall it from the begining of the call.Long story short. It is a good product if you are ok with not being able to change backing plates or anything else on this product! If not, it is a LEMON!

Made in the USA! Makita nailed it again. THE BEST for Auto Detailing and it’s not as expensive as some other Professional polishers. This is absolutely well engineered. From what I have learned is that Makita consulted with numerous auto detailing professionals around the world and compared the best of the best. I have a lot of Makita 18 Volt Brushless tools and 6 batteries. You’ll only need two batteries for this to do an extensive or day long detail or polish. Both included 5” and 6” backing plates are pro quality too but can also be changed with other bands and sizes if you so desire. The DA throw is about 9mm which I prefer for vehicles with lots of body lines. If there was a better DA polisher, I would buy it. There just isn’t. I will add to my review soon but as for now... If you are serious about detailing and paint correction, don’t procrastinate. Bravo!

This thing is awesome. Lightweight and runs smoothly. Way better than the old heavy orbital polisher. Flick the switch over and do a light buffing polish
