Q: There are conflicting comments as to whether this plays MP3s from a flash drive. Has anyone actually tried and gotten it to play?

I have the unit, and it places MP3s that I have on an 8 GB flash drive, no problem!

Q: will it shuffle and play mp3 off a flash drive? i assume it will play, but havent seen shuffle specifically for the usb.

It only plays one CD or MP3 at a time. I don't understand why the shuffle feature is necessary unless you have a multiple CD player. Maye so for a large MP3 device??

Hi... Our model has a different front but looks similar and this one shown looks a little larger. The sony portable we have measures 12 inches long by around 5 and half inches in height and 8 inches in depth. Hope this helps as we like ours and it was a good price here on Amazon. Google the model number as you are getting different answers and you may be able to get exact measurements from another store. UPDATE.. I found it at BestBUY..width 12.59 inches,depth 5.23 inches, weigh 4.4 pounds no height listed.
