Well written story and characters. I appreciated the way the story unfolded. A little bit of mystery but no unrealistic shocking surprises. Emotional and satisfying.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was just great historical fiction taking place in Poland during World War 1. Alternated between past and present. Deep messages about family, ancestry, and the connections that bond us. Themes included sacrifice, resilience, and kindness.Very well written and everything about this book was amazing.

Loved the story about Alina and Tomasz. The family life of Alice I could have done without. She was really annoying. I felt as if her story with her family and the constant “sorry” between her and Wade were annoying as well. Felt as if her family dynamic was just a filler for the story. I literally skimmed through her chapters, until near the end when the truth came out. The storyline of Alina and her family was beautifully told and kept me engaged. It was a bittersweet story.

I am a copywriter by profession and am in awe of Kelly's brilliant creative mind. Weaving a tale like this, perfectly timed in its hints to the reader, all with vivid imagery is what every reader craves in a novel. This book would not let me go. I was completely invested, finding myself praying for the characters during my prayer time before realizing that doesn't do any good for fictional people. The last two chapters and the epilogue had me weeping as though I'd lost someone I'd long loved. I cried for those in the story, sure, but more so because somehow Kelly captures what it means to be a daughter or a son, a part of a legacy set in motion by our grandparents. Thank you, Kelly, for being faithful to your gift of writing and putting into the world exactly what the world needs.

What a roller coaster ride this story takes. I love this story of excitement, action, romance and faith. It was heartwarming and courageous . I didn’t think it would have such an impact on me. I will share it and hold the love and joy of overcoming despair.

This book has been one of the best written and most enjoyable reads I've experienced in a long time. It has every element of emotions one can feel. I will miss all the characters, which for me explains how I got into the heart and soul of this story.

What an amazing book from the point of view of two amazing women. Very weak written and has you hoping the whole time.

What an incredible, well-told story. I really enjoyed the suspenseful aspect of this book in addition to the character development. Powerful!
