Works as advertised, and excellent customer service! Takes a bit of work to program them.
If you're repairing a dead remote on the original key - this is the way to go, the remote part programs super easily, and the board fits inside my original Mini Cooper keyfob (take note of where the chip is located and oriented in the case before transferring it over, or you could have issues starting your car)If you're creating a duplicate key, this becomes more problematic.I purchased this key so that I could have a spare for my Mini Cooper. It works like a champ, but I also had to purchase a programmer (the AK90), remove the EWS system from my car (only took 10 minutes for that) and use it to program the new key. For systems with EWS 2 or EWS 3 - the process is quite straight forward, and worth the effort to save money. If you have an EWS 4 system - you need to purchase an additional adapter off E-Bay, or you need to solder connectors to your EWS board.I wound up soldering the cable to my EWS 4 board, but it was a stressful experience, and not worth repeating. All told, I saved money over the dealer's $200 quote, but had I known the challenges I'd face, I would have eaten the costs. The customer service was excellent - my first key was misdelivered, and they immediately sent me a replacement that arrived a day later!

The security transponder in the key was worthless
Key is physically OK. But the transponder in the key would not read, let alone write. Ordered a new transponder chip from a reputable US based locksmith, it worked perfectly in the key on the first try, both read and wrote. I may have had an unlucky dud, but if I have to do this again, I'll order the remote key on Amazon, and then find a reputable locksmith supply, either online or physical, for the transponder. As for the locking and unlocking function of this key, those worked OK, and I was able to program the key to lock and unlock doors identically to the original key.

2001 BMW e46 This key worked for me to lock and unlock car doors, pop trunk and turn on car alarm. PERFECT & EASY to sync.
I received the key this afternoon.(placed order 3 days previous) I ordered this key with the intent to use it as a replacement to lock and unlock the doors and to pop the trunk on a 2001 BMW e46 (325i) . I have not looked into having it cut and programmed to start the vehicle. It took less than 60 seconds to pair the key with my vehicle. An unexpected bonus: my central locking button on the console now works reliably. I can also use the car alarm again, too. The key fob is of good quality. the only thing negative I can say at this point is that I wish the key came with a roundell with BMW logo, like some other reviewers said they received. ( i will have to purchase separately for a few dollars less than what I paid for the key.)syncing this key was very simple.I got in the car, making sure all 4 doors were locked.I then put the old key in the ignition, turned it to accessory position and back 5 times in rapid succession;then depressed the door unlock button and continued to hold it down while i took key out of ignition.while continuing to hold the lock button in the depressed position, I pressed the center button 3 times, holding for a 1 count each time.On the 3rd release of the lock button the door locks popped up and then back down.I then, immediately took the new key, depressed the unlock button and held it while depressing the lock button (round center button) 3 times, holding for a 1 count each time.On the 3rd release of lock button the door locks popped up and then back down, again.to complete the process I inserted original key in ignition and turned to accessory position and back one time, then removed the key from the ignition completing the syncing process for both keys.

Works well and saved me money
This is a great way to save money over a factory key, however it is a multi step processAfter receiving the key you must program it to work with your car. This can be done through the use of the AK90 key programmer available on Amazon or EBay. There are a bunch of YouTube videos on using this product. The programmer costs about $30. You also have to remove a module under the dash for the programmer to connect to and read. You have to take the key to get cut at a locksmith. Not all locksmiths can cut a bmw key, so call around. This cost me $30 to have done. The next step is to program the keyless entry portion of the key to work. There are videos available on YouTube for this as well.Total cost including the key from Amazon, the programmer and cutting at locksmith was about $75. A factory key costs over $200.Overall not a difficult process for anyone with some mechanical andComputer skills. Otherwise it may be worth going through the dealer.

Worked on the first try! 2003 BMW 325Ci
I opened the package, went out to the car, and programmed the lock as you would with the native opener. The locks cycled as they should and, it worked from the house 40' away as well! I would like to see this unit made just as a key fob without the blade as an option, but cutting the blade off with a Dremel is no problem. I only say this because I have a working key with a transponder, but the locks (despite a good battery) will not cooperate, and the cost of cutting a BMW key is just stupid for what it is. I'll probably buy another for the other key. Good value.

Internal micro switch lasted 6 months
I really wanted to like this key as it was easy to program to use as a door opener and I was also able to program it to start the car with the AK90 box, a bit more challenging. My local lock shop had the key cutting tool that cost $35. The tactile micro-switches aren't very robust as the door opening switch self destructed after 6 months. The car isn't my daily driver.

Great 👍.
I like this item, even if the key it is uncut, but the key fob works great, good quality product & right for the price. Thanks a ton.

Don't mess with the original, just add this.
I am extreamly happy with this. My daughter's keyfob stopped working. The info is online on how to program this. I cut the key off and now she has the OEM key and a new fob. Works perfect. Just and FYI the chip is in the original key fob... if you mess with it, it could stop working and you will not be able to start your car.

Good value
Great value key compared to going to the dealers, key dies needs cutting separately, programed the key effortlessly. Will be buying another one soon for a spare. Please note you will have to find an independent key cutter as some are not willing to cut the key.

Not plug and play. Read the reviews.
It works. BUT. You have to find an automotive locksmith to cut the key. $50. You have to find someone in the city to program the key to your car. $100.
