Cool for non-professionals
I like to do art in my free time and I think this book is helpful for those tricky perspectives. It provides opportunities for guided practice without having to create an entire art piece and I really like that. I don't know how much this would help a well-practiced artist as I find it most helpful for perspective and awkward body shapes, like understanding anatomy for dynamic poses. Would recommend to anyone trying to get a little better at drawing anime or cartoon style.

Good for Beginners and Intermediates
As someone that's already been drawing for 5 years and was seeking to improve, this book has been super helpful. Lots of great tips for drawing anatomy here, I always struggled to draw hands and now thanks to this book they're nowhere near the obstacle they used to be. It even has tips for digital software you can use, 5 years doing digital work and I didn't know anything about clipping before this! I look forward for what else this book can teach me, only downside is that the pages were a little bent.

VERY DETAILED!
It's so refreshing to actually read a drawing book that shows you each step and adds detailed instructions on how to draw. So many helpful tips on proportions and the body and how it moves and should be drawn, this book even lets you know common mistakes! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I also have Matsuo's other book on how to draw clothing and the consistency with details they provide and the instruction is amazing. At this point, I will buy anything from Matsuo with Tuttle publishing, you guys are out here really trying to help artists!

Brilliant!
Wow! this book is all that I can ask for. For years I've been looking for something to help me break down and memorize how to draw the human figure accurately from my mind. This book simplifies each body part (broken down into sections) and shows you how to rotate them accurately. I can't wait to get better using the material in here! My number one book right now.

Perfeito.

A Lifesaver for Artists: Unlocking the Holy Grail of Artistic Basics
As an experienced artist who sometimes gets caught up in the intricacies of my art, I came across a book that truly revolutionized my art journey. This gem-like resource is truly a lifesaver. One of the most remarkable things about this book is its ability to deconstruct and demystify even the most basic principles of art. For me, who tends to modify everything to the point of being overly complicated, this book turned out to be a breath of fresh air. The book carefully guide you back to the basics, making sure you understand the core basics before diving into more advanced techniques.Where this book really stands out is its comprehensive approach. It doesn't just teach you how to draw static objects. It goes above and beyond with a deep dive into the complex world of anatomy. Careful explanations and detailed illustrations brilliantly decipher the intricacies of what muscles look like when stretched. That alone takes the book to a whole new level.Matsu's expertise is reflected on every page, and it's clear that he truly understands the challenges facing emerging artists. He has an amazing ability to convey his knowledge in a concise and easy-to-understand manner, making even the most complex concepts easy for his readers to understand. Whether you're an up-and-coming artist looking to hone your skills, or a seasoned creator wanting a refresher on the basics, I can't recommend this book enough. Combining its intense approach with its extraordinary coverage of anatomy and perspective, this book is a must-have resource in any artist's library. In summary, this book is a true holy grail for artists looking to hone their craft. Matsu provide a wealth of knowledge and guidance that will breathe new life into your artistic journey and undoubtedly improve your skills.

Needed this book 20 years ago! Amazing
I've read a few highly rated drawing books before and they've all suffered the same flaw. They mention a certain category like poses or angles and they think it can be covered in 2-4 pages. "Okay, yeah, nice pose but how do you actually come up with that pose? What muscle joints are moving?". Typical books will easily spend 10 pages on what materials you need to draw with annoying pictures of stationary yet they'll flesh out a lot of the other pages with empty space with a tiny amount of actual notes. Here we have a book literally jam packed with information and notes in an easy-to-understand format that doesn't overwhelm and the book quality is really nice with a hard cardboard cover and premium glossy thick pages. Highly recommend this series over any other 'how to draw' that simply has some fancy cover artwork to bait a purchase.
