York Fitness 4 x 2.5kg Standard Cast Iron Disc Set

Bought these to add to the 10kg York Dumbbells I had. I thought they would be the same 2.5kg plates but these are actually marked "barbell" which might be why the holes are slightly bigger - maybe about 1cm? Was a bit worried they wouldn't fit and slip around too much but, after fitting them and bolting them in place, they didn't move so I've kept them.Other than that, there's not really much to say. Just have gloves or prepared to get your hands dirty during early use when the black powder comes off the plates. Eventually it settles down.

Compared to the 2.5 kg discs you get with the 20kg dumbbell pack these are very very poor quality, jagged in places, very poorly moulded, I had to file out parts of the middle hole myself to get them onto my bar, I question their authenticity. Be wary, perhaps I got a bad batch but for certain the ones I received are not acceptable quality.

The Holes on these weights are nearer 1.2 than 1 inch? I wouldn't recommend these weights unless you don't mind your weights rattling about on your bar :/ York Why? I have some York 2,5's Ive had for years and there perfect! they fit snug on the bar, but these are not the same. also they are £39.99 Now! Whats with the price hike! I paid 18.99 when I purchased?

A normal sized plate,slim Good quality etc.not like these puffed up fake jobs that look twice the size.

One is a bit dented and some paint chipped off but that's always been expected with weights, they are not for decoration as good as what I bought from the high street.

Seen a few reviews saying that discs are of poor quality, pitted, rough etc. I bought these and was that impressed with them I have bought another set, mine are of the highest quality, very pleased with them, hence why I have bought another set. My set are definitely authentic and look the business.

A perfect fit for my York dumbbell bars which are probably over a decade old, and the plates don't move around. I had a quick check on the scales and the weights looked to bang on. Can't be bothered faffing with plates between sets so have 3 pairs of dumbbells, and these are ideal to fill out the weight between my heavier and lighter pairs.

I ordered these weights to add to the resistance of my York 15kg Chrome dumbell set, although they should work with any 1" diameter dumbell or barbell bars. The 4x 2.5kg discs arrived in a huge box, which when opened revealed alot of airbags and a tiny box just barely big enough for the weights inside, this confused the courier as it was a large box which was heavy in one small area only.The weights once unpacked are exactly what I expected, rougher in finish than the chrome weights I have but this is an unexpected advantage as when they are the largest weight used on a dumbell its rougher surface makes it less prone to rolling away.I've been using these weights now for nearly a month and they work perfectly, I have noticed a tiny bit of wear around the inner faces of the discs, like as if black paint is wearing away, but it does not effect the usage of them.Best of all I researched the weights at York fitness' own website prior to purchasing and the price here was far less than direct from the factory outlet online.So not only would I recommend these weight discs, but I will likely buy a second set in the near future.
