Sturdy mats which are also good for sitting hot pans on
I have just had a new kitchen installed and wanted to protect the new worktops. I bought two of these mats and placed one on either side of the sink. The mats were quite thick and sturdy and they stayed in place quite securely. I don't have a drying rack as I have a dishwasher and dishes tend to go straight into this so I really didn't use the mats for drying dishes. As the mats are made of silicon, they are heat resistant so I also found them very useful for sitting hot pans and casserole dishes on. The only minor grumble I have is that the mats were folded in two for posting to me and the crease where they were folded is still noticeable more than a week later. I have tried sitting heavy objects on top of the crease but this didn't make any difference. I am hoping that it will disappear in time. Perhaps this could have been avoided if the supplier had rolled the mats up instead of folding them in two? Overall, however, I have found the mats helpful.

Surface protection mat
I have used this mat to protect my small draining board. I now wash up at the sink, not using dish washer unless catering for visitors, my dish drainer will allow water to drip onto the edges of worktop. This very sturdy mat protects the edges, I have punctured small holes to allow the buildup of water to drain away into the sink as you can see from pictures plus it stops the old man moaning about the worktop edges being wet 😀

Good sized mat, easy to clean ( especially with the free cleaner).

Really practical kitchen mats
We got three of these to protect the absurdly expensive new worktops we had fitted in autumn21. The worktop is a pale colour and I cook with a lot of spices, so really didn't want to end up with bits of it being stained orange! I'm also a bit random with hot saucepans and wanted to try to avoid scorching the new surfaces. These have been brilliant.Totally heatproof - fine for hot pans straight from the oven. One lives beneath the toaster and catches all the crumbs without any danger of it catching fire as well!Reasonably easy to clean (although bits can get trapped in the texture so it's worth taking five mins to scrub them). They come with their own cleaning widget.Waterproof - we have our kettle and coffee machine standing on one and it regularly catches the spills. Would be ideal for draining areas if you don't have a conventional drainer.Cat proof - we got another one to protect the floor from the cats' food bowls, too.Worth checking the size you want and what's available because some of them are absolutely *huge*.Very happy with the ones we have, and after six months they're all still as good as new, no signs of wear and tear at all.

Worktop drainer mat
Fed up with draining racks, plates would never fit properly etc so decided on a mat. My sink and drainer are big, so I was really pleased to find a mat that was an almost perfect fit, would highly recommend. Good quality rubber as well.

Better than direct to metal
Photo is after 16 hours ‘drying’. I bought this because the metal sink drainer never drains and the water doesn’t evaporate. This silicone mat is an improvement at least. It helps to stop stacked items slipping, which is great, but the water still pools. I think the advantage is the raised ridges at least keep most items raised and allow the water to collect around the base, so in that sense yes it does drain, but don’t expect your dishes to dry themselves!
